RichWS
I'm kind of a Richardson fanboy, so I think he deserves everything he's won.

RichWS
I never heard of a Richardson fanboy One time I had dinner at Red Lobster, and I noted to my family that the lighting above us was Richardson-esque.

Gopher
Not getting my hopes up because he's won ASC three times and never picked up an Oscar. But I would LOVE to see Deakins win. Such a gorgeous film and a shining achievement for what you can do with digital photography.

It's practically sealed up his fate of losing yet again..... ;( ASC and Academy don't usually agree I believe.
Sims
Very undeserved. Good thing he'll lose the important one.
acsc1312
RR is half of what Deakins is to get almost as many nominations. They kind of fucked up everything this year cinematography wise. I'm just glad they recognized AK. did I really just diss RR that much? I just looked at his full filmographyJFK :worthy:Shutter Island :worthy:The Aviator :worthy:Forgive my previous ignorance. Still didn't much care for Django's cinematography.

acsc1312
Deakins doesn't deserve the Oscar, but it'd be a nice consolation to finally get one.
Sims
Okay, explain. I think his work in Skyfall is flawless. Nothing to explain. Just thought Life of Pi (and Anna Karenina) had more effective photography. Deakins has lost for more impressive work in my book.
CoolioD1
That's cool that Deakins got it because he's not gonna win the Oscar. Skyfall was EASILY the best cinematography I saw last year.
Jack Nevada
That's cool that Deakins got it because he's not gonna win the Oscar. Skyfall was EASILY the best cinematography I saw last year. Better than The Master? The movie looked fucking gorgeous, but watching it on a regular screen felt like watching a letterbox version of it or something. It must have been amazing on 70mm
Sims
I would also add The Master to the list of 2012 films with better cinematography.

Sims
Prometheus had really good cinematography. Agreed, actually. My Top 6 would probably be: 1. Life of Pi 2. Anna Karenina 3. The Master 4. Skyfall 5. Prometheus 6. Django Unchained
