keysersoze123
I think $45-50 million finish. disappointing decrease from TF3 but it will still be in the top 10 of the year. The franchise has probably hit a peak in Korea, if TF5 has nothing new to offer I think it will decrease further from TF4. I guess frozen and few locals will beat it. But I think its hard for any hollywood flick to beat it rest of the year. I am hoping interstellar has a leggy run like inception but TF4 gross will be hard considering it will be in 2D. You're probably right, though the biased side of me says Interstellar has a slight chance of doing it. Adjusted to today's exchange rate ($1=1,019 KRW) Inception's gross comes to $43 million. Frozen and edge of tomorrow has already proved that even original films with great word of mouth can do great in Korea. It has the disadvantage of being outside the holiday frame (inception was released during summer holidays for students) but if it becomes an event film then that could more than make up for it. Rsyu
Is a 70% drop normal in the summertime here on the first monday? I don't think it's a terrible drop but yes, it isn't all that impressive either. TF4 dropped -74% on it's first monday for example while local film <divine move> dropped just 55.7%.The monday number itself isn't so bad though, the big weekend numbers probably deflated the monday number a bit as well as competition from holdovers. It's pretty incredible that TF4 still gets 500+ screens (apes has 829 in comparison) despite the poor business it's doing now. As for apes, the week-to-week drop will be more telling for it's legs. 3 million admissions should fall and it will post a nice increase over rises. Rsyu
Do movies usually increase on the first wed?? A lot of films are released on wednesday nowadays so the first Wednesday would be opening day in such a case. But to answer to your question, the admission figures for midweek is generally similar with monday and tuesday being in general slightly lower and wednesday and thursday being slightly higher. This isn't a constant pattern however and with the majority of films being released over either wednesday or thursday, you'll find in many cases holdovers dropping from the mon-tue figure due to the increased competition from new releases on Wed-Thur. KATCH-2D2
This is the last week it will do meaningful business, next week's releases will kill it. So it's going to do how much more? $1-2 mil? $43mil finish?
Rsyu
So it's going to do how much more? $1-2 mil? $43mil finish? Last week's weekend numbers for TF4 were a good increase over midweek so if that happens again this week then yeah $2 million could happen. Otherwise it'll fall short. Overall, the drops this week have been pretty bad even though there have been no new major releases.
