Rsyu
The gap between the presales of Exodus and Interstellar has been lessening all day. James
So is 70M achevable for Interstellar? What should we expect for Sat/Sun?
Rsyu
Last week Interstellar's Friday rose 50.5% over Thursday and the Saturday number rose 120% over Friday. This week's friday rose by 42% which isn't that far off from the previous week. An increase of at least 110% on Saturday should give IS a baseline of 165K admissions. In this scenario, 300K admissions for the remainder of the week and 9 million admissions total would be locked by the end of Sunday.
Rsyu
So is 70M achevable for Interstellar? What should we expect for Sat/Sun? Interstellar currently needs 861K admissions more for $70M, maybe a little more if exchange rates continue to fluctuate. After this week this should be down to 550K or so. I don't see anything big next week so holds shouldn't be too harsh. I think it's achievable

Mojoguy
22nd of Jan. A week later than frozen's release date. Thanks. That's pretty late compared to Japan's Dec 20 date.
Rsyu
Thanks. That's pretty late compared to Japan's Dec 20 date. It's a good release date. It gets 6 weeks of winter holidays (which should be the majority of it's run) as well as the Chinese New Year. I just hope there won't be any piracy issues.
Rsyu
Took another look at the new releases on the 10th of December and I'm getting strong "about time" vibes from Love, Rosie and Theory of everything. Either of them could be the surprise hits of this winter, Koreans love these types of films. I think Theory of everything has a better chance for success though. keysersoze123
Is Interstellar making money without Imax? Can it potentially keep chugging along during the holidays. I assume then 10M+ is possible?
Rsyu
Is Interstellar making money without Imax? Can it potentially keep chugging along during the holidays. I assume then 10M+ is possible? Yeah no more IMAX screens, although they're bringing some of them back for 3 days next week in 11 theatres around the country. Admissions for week 5 (this week) will be 800K or thereabouts, a 45% drop from week 4 which will bring the total to 9.1M admissions. Legs won't last until the holidays but hopefully it can muster up 900K more admissions required. Next week will be crucial since there will be big releases every week from the week after that and onwards.
