Army performed terribly.....with that huge share of showtimes....

Theater chains don't care about what SARFT asked. China Film Group and Bona, distributors of Army, also invested WW2. So they don't dare to ask too many.

Obviously you mean overall total as Fate OW was way higher. but wolf needs extraordijnary legs to gross around 2.7B. I guess competition is so weak its possible.

Can you please give an idea of what% showings and gross of Dangal in china was from Hindi version with mandarin subtitles and Dubbed version seperately.

Boxoffindia,an Aamir hating and propaganda site is saying it's all dubbed version but from the feedback i have recieved is that 85-90% showings were in Hindi with mandarin subtitles.

All dubbed version is bullshit. Most Chinese hate this version. In first tier cities(Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen), cinema chains may never offer dubbed version of foreign movies to audience. Many second tier cities will consider to arrange dubbed version if foreign animation movie come.

We don't count the numbers of this or that version. No idea about the new movie's release date. But I believe many Chinese studios will fight for its distribution right.

Competition is not weak —— next Thursday Once Upon A Time is a $100m+ grosser and the following weekend has five wide releases including Andy Lau-Jean Reno starring The Adventures, but WW2 WOM is just so strong that it will wipe away everthing following up.

OUaT PS still targeting 70m. Could be a 200m OD thursday. Dont know if its a front load but that will take a shunk of svreens. WW2 may lose just 35% though with Army giving up more screens.

WW2 first Sunday is almost identical to the opening Sunday of Furious 7 excluding midnight. the two pics have the similar level of WOM.

 

So, from there and on:

if WW2 follows Furious 7, it will end up with 3B+;

if WW2 follows Monster Hunt, it will end up with 4.2B;

 

considering WW2 has advantage of summer weekday against Furious 7 while it is not as family friendly as Monster Hunt, so somewhere between 3B and 4.2B has to be the range, for the time being.
