A Marvel Fanboy
It's the biggest opening day for a WB film and it has the second largest opening of the year next to IM3. Best OD for WB, yes. But let's wait for actuals to see if it is bigger than FF6 OD (57.8M): http://forums.boxoffice.com/index.php?/topic/678-china-bo-by-7-30-whd-216m-ff6-34m-after-4-days-pr-on-wed-solid-presales/?p=969864

zackzack
FF6 OW daily breakdown (updated): Midnight 4.2M 2nd best of 2013 behind IM3's 13M, same as TA OD 57.8M 7th biggest of all time, slightly ahead of TA (57M), 4th biggest for a Hollywood movie, biggest opening Friday. Sat 66.6M Sun 56.7M OW (3 days) 181M 17th biggest all time, 10th biggest for Hollywood movies, biggest 3-days opening all time, biggest Universal opening, 2nd best July opening Overally FF6 is performing on par with last year's TA, which did over 560M (90M) in total. FF6 faces much tougher competitions than TA. So $90M most likely is unreachable. Still, something like 500M yuan $80M is on track for FF6, as long as it holds well against Pacific Rim. According to Google Finance 1 USD = 6.1265 CNY FF6 Opening at 181M RMP = US$29.5M ?

A Marvel Fanboy
According to Google Finance 1 USD = 6.1265 CNY FF6 Opening at 181M RMP = US$29.5M ? We dont really know what kind of exchange rate (like which bank, when) is being used by CFC for Hollywood. But I bet they are using one that is bigger than 6.12. Should be around 6.2. zackzack
I always thought $50~60M would be its range. Now looks like $70~80M. Help yourself ... A lazy action movie like GIJ2 can earn $50M in China. With all the gazillion bytes on display in PACRIM, I hope audience in China would make the better choice. As for TF3: it's a rather bland movie, but the CGI/3D stuff they put in the movie drives the audience wild. US audience tends to flock to what is popular: comic book, novel, bestsellers, Minions. Chinese audience doesn't distinguish Giant Robots in PR from Autobots. I am hoping for something closer to 90M. It's a bad choice for them to open it so close to FF6 Edited August 1, 2013 by zackzack
