It is all relative to expectations, expectations was almost double of this..and total of 2bn yuan expected initially. Now only ard 1bn total expected.

Just a proxy; for people's consideration. Not scientific..

But here goes:

China Doctors was released on July 9th (a date which ppl were hoping BW releases); it has earned around RMB210m and currently has 28.8k votes / ratings on Douban.

Black Widow currently has 14.9k votes on Douban as we speak, roughly half of China Doctors. 

 

So a very very rough estimate, again not scientific, just based on the number of reviews - assuming these people pirated it - that if these people had to pay for tickets - it will be RMB100m yuan worth of box office thus far lost already due to piracy. (Of course the no. of ratings will increase as the delay continues to drag)

 

There are of course many other factors, but there is no way to estimate the number of people who pirates the film; so i used douban number of ratings as a proxy..

Maoyan and Taopiaopiao scores are inflated, an average move is usually 8.5 or above. Anything below 8 is considered a bad film.. lol.

 

douban is quite accurate IMO - at least for Hollywood films. 

But one thing I will say - and I think you would agree - watching something in theaters is a very different experience from watching on your laptop or tablet, I felt Mulan was a very very solid film and understood why RT score from critics was good; even had two nominations for oscars, but most audience scores worldwide was by pirates who watched it illegally on a small screen..

I think Black Widow will fall further.. Maybe 6.2 - 6.4 final score..

 

Won't be surprised if each touchs 6.0 to be honest. The % of 5 star vs 1 star is obvious a lot fans rated 5 stars for no reason.. Now we see more general audience giving 3 stars..

I haven't seen BoP. But Mulan review are apt. The film was shittiest film I watched last year and Liu does have a wooden face.
