CHINA:

Most forecasters predict a continuation of the recent Hollywood dominance through the third quarter, with pics such as “How to Train Your Dragon 2” set for Aug. 14 and “Hercules” some time in August, while “Expendables 3,” with Jet Li and is skedded for an August release. The fourth quarter boasts the last installment of “The Hobbit” trilogy, Christopher Nolan’s “Interstlellar” and “Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1.”

SATURDAY est
The Continent 84M/$13.5M, Total : 220M/$35.5M (3 days)

The House That Never Dies 21.6M/$3.5M, Total : 303M/$48.9M(9 days)

Tiny Times 3 17.5M/$2.8M, Total : 449M/$72.4M(10 days)

Transformers 4 12.1M/$2M Total : 1956M/$315.5M(30 days)

Right, tomorrow will be the last day for TF4 for sure as based on Wanda Cinema(China biggest chain) there will be no more TF4 show on Monday, 28th of July!

It is so sad especially TF4 still doing well.  Take one of the Wanda Cinema in Guangzhou as an example, presales for TF4 10.25am tomorrow is very good!  It has sold 163 seats out of 428 seats for the 10.25am show on tomorrow!

That is such a great Sat jump for TF4!

TF4 should've taken a few show times from TT3, it'd have made $5m easily.

And to think Japan still keep frozen in theatre after half a year of it's release.

TF4 could have made $350m+ if it's theatrical run hadn't gotten cut short. Now we'll never know..

the rules for chinese cinema from what i understand have been like this for quite a long time. So no need to be sad as we all knew that it only had a one month right. But what a fantastic run it was.

The Chinese know that the movie will be removed from all the screens in three weeks or so. Anyone who hasn't watched it until now just didn't want to see the movie.

How come BOM is saying that TF4 only made $285 million in China.

What did Paramount announce officially ?

Look at

"But the weekend was also notable as the frame in which Transformers: Age of Extinction” officially passed $300 million at Middle Kingdom theaters."  - Variety

http://variety.com/2014/film/news/china-box-office-big-time-for-tiny-times-3-as-transformers-4-passes-300-million-1201266326/

also,

"But Paramount's Age of Extinction has grossed far less than previous Transformers movies domestically, though it will be the first 2014 film to hit $1 billion worldwide thanks to $300 million in China. " - THR

By the way, Annayya,  you and me, we both have the same feeling at the moment(I believe...) as for me, tomorrow will be TF4 last day in China and for you, Frozen is out of Top 10 in Japan...  lol...

That's ok. I knew Frozen can't go on forever.

Meanwhile Transformers will exceed $1 billion next week. There's no way it will beat Frozen anyway :P

I booked advance tickets for Guardians of the Galaxy in IMAX 3D for next weekend to look forward to.

It has 100% rating at rottentomatoes: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/guardians_of_the_galaxy/

IMDB is at 9/10: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2015381/?ref_=hm_cs_t1
