So 11M is out of reach for MOS? What's the likely total?I noticed that the legs in The Philippines is pretty bad like Russia. IM3 has a 2x multiplier. MOS looks to do worse than that. Is bad legs common or is that the case just for big openers?

It's pretty common since most films just get released for a month or so. The competition is tough. Though some films hold really well occasionally. WWZ is an example. That second weekend drop was amazing.

Yes, the turnover of movies here is pretty fast. The most weeks a blockbuster can stay on a lot of theaters is 4 weeks so you don't usually see exceptional legs. Most movies make most of their gross on their first week

I was at the mall yesterday and long lines at the cinemas! DM2 is just like a superhero movie with all those long lines. If this had like 90% share of screens like the past superhero and twilight movies it would compete with their OW numbers. Anyway, there were sellouts too for Monsters University, 4 Sisters and a Wedding, White House Down and World War Z. The Heat and Bling Ring is just sharing a screen and they could not fill up half of the seats. Wanted to watch Bling Ring but the lines were too long and it won't be possible to make it to the screentime we wanted. The other local movie My Lady Boss has one screen for itself but no sellouts either. I feel like if there were more prints available (or contracts for those movies) I bet that theater would pull those movies out to add another one for DM2

lol My country is on a roll. DESPICABLE ME ll is now the biggest opener ever for an animated film. A lot of records have been broken this year.

The Philippines has more people than the UK, Germany and France. So in theory there is a lot of room to grow.

Yeah

Those countries all had 100M+ grossers.

Taking it to the extreme, if a film in the Philippines made as many dollars per person as Avatar in Australia, then it would make about $460M.

The lion share of the box office still comes from Metro Manila as the provincial theaters are not as many and don't make as much (and they have lower ticket prices as well) so there's really a lot of  room to grow for the country. Well Hollywood movies that is because certain local movies explode because they do well on provinces just see It Takes a Man and a Woman, it made that huge amount of money despite lower ticket prices (and no 3D premium) compared to Hollywood movies because of strong performances in the provinces

Our GDP this first quarter is the best in Asia. The middle class has increased. Moviegoing is one of the best forms of entertainment among families. However, this good economic achievement still has to be felt by the poorest of the poor.THE AVENGERS ll and AVATAR ll are gonna be big here.

HUGE for DM2! Could gross around $5-6 million. Very impressive

Big drop for MU :(

Well Man of Steel will not reach $9 million anymore.  DM2 took a lot of its screens

World War Z's performance is just impressive

No numbers yet for local movie 4 Sisters and a Wedding, their studio reports it already earned 120 million pesos so that's around $2.7 million

I'm not familiar with the Phillippines box office, but with a 3m opening how could it have less than a 2 multiplier?

See the first few posts on top of this page, Mattrek. It's common. Just look at IM3 and MOS. IM3 opened to 7.4m, and barely make it to a 2x multiplier. MOS opened to 5.7m, and will end with about 8.9m total, less than 2x. Edited by Sam

Why taking so much screens from MU on its 2nd week while barily touching The Theat's second week's screens while this movie performed much worse during the previeous week ?

I don't understand how THE HEAT will need more screens than MU on both 2nd week.  I don't understand the logic behind that.
