Only a dumbass or a troll would say LOTR trilogy had negative feedback. One of the most asinine things I've ever read.

Cure for insomnia? Give me a fucking break, troll.

I love the LOTR trilogy, but it had negative feedback. It was just a extreme minority who didn't like it. Every film has negative feedback.

As far as negative feedback toward obsessed LOTR fanboys, that may be another issue altogether. :P

WB told them to write those numbers to make good press news.

I think Obama's in on it too. Wants WB to fudge numbers so they can retain their payroll and thus bump up his concocted unemployment figures. It's really quite transparent.

WOM for this is going to be fantastic. I'm hearing nothing but great reception from people. I'm obviously disappointed 100m couldn't happen for OW but its not a big deal at all with WOM and the holidays. Sticking to 400m+ finish for this.

I don't understand. Who's being a bitch and why? From what I can tell most people are just being realistic.

There being bitches by not being impressed by this thoroughly dull number. Hell I'm a fan of LOTR but even I know this opening is kind of disappointing.

Kids loved TPM and that's what gave it great legs despite the core fan base hating it. Luckily for this movie, the core fans AND casual audiences are liking it

The entire world was in denial about TPM for months.

Funny how everytime a major film opens, there are people who seem to be intent on assuring everyone that the film is "flopping." And yes, I know that that is exactly what I did when TA opened. I am aware that my insistent "it will open to 85 million/it will gross less than 300 m" posts were influenced by my dislike for Whedon and by how they only used a token, non-powered, just-for-eyecandy female Avenger in the film. But it's an interesting phenomenon. Who's willing to fess up that they hate the LOTR series and they want it to fail?

So true. Heck, even Skyfall's OW was 'disappointing' to some when it failed to reach the early guesstimate that it would reach $100 million Edited by forg

TH is no TPM. Any comparisons between this and The Phantom Menace are unrealistic. Everyone kept mentioning Bombur so much, I thought he was gonna be another Jar Jar. He's barely a blip on the radar of the film. The most annoying part is actually...

The "saved by the (fill in the blank here)". I dunno how many times they get into some no-win situation when Gandalf or the damn eagles appear. Also, dwarves are apparently made of rubber.

;)

So will the hobbit join the ranks of amazing spiderman and tdkr where if someone mentions if they like it or hate it will spark a heated debate which happens in like every topic for asm and tdkr?

Most definitely.

But the press doesn't really hit until Sunday when the weekend estimates come out, and you don't want egg on your face then.

Whatever estimate they put out, it will be rounded up to the next milestone.(Eg: 78m to 80m, 83m to 85m, and so on)

Annoying things in a Box Office forum:1. "Haters". Hating something I didn't like and wasting energy and time is just kind of ridiculous. Most annoying group: The "I haven't even seen the movies, but i have to hate that franchise, because I love a rival franchise"-specialists.2. Being called a hater, when you just analyse numbers and dare to use the word "disappointment".3. Fanboys being in denial and hoping and believing for the best.Yes, annoying, but the forum would be lifeless and dead without them, wouldn't it?

It will. ;)
