Sundance Film Festival 2013

Recommended Posts

I had a festival purchase excel chart but that got lost along with some other files when my other computer died last year. Does anyone recall how much Fox paid for Beasts, and Vantage paid for Like Crazy?

Fox bought Beasts for $1 million.Edit - Here is a very good NYTimes article on the business side of Sundance.http://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/22/business/media/at-sundance-early-sales-are-mixed-with-caution.html?_r=0 Edited by TLK

I heard mixed things about it, but I'm still hopeful I'll like it.And OMG!!! I can't wait to see Before Midnight. All this talk about it made me watch the other two films again yesterday.  I hope b4 midnight can sneak an Oscar nod just like the last one did.

Octavia Spencer's new film, Fruitvale, was picked up by TWC here for $2.5 million which is expensive for a film at Sundance. The film's gotten good reviews, and so has she. She's probably a good early bet for Supporting Actress. (TWC, Good Reviews, bordering on Raves, tearjerker, meaty role, true story, Oscar Bait) And she'll be the first female African-American winner to get another nomination after a win, making history.

So Octavia Spencer is the real deal then. Most Oscar winning actresses disappear after their wins.
