She's in the Best SUPPORTING Actress slot, not Best Actress. Wait for the moment she actually wins an Oscar for a lead actress performance, then we can talk about her "uniqueness" and eventual longevity as a A-lister.

 

(Moreover, Charlize Theron did not disappear or fade into oblivion so I don't know what would make Hathaway so unique in that regard).
