Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 from Disney/Marvel collected $1.39M yesterday at 3,871 theaters in second bringing its four-week tally to $345.7M. Paramount’s R-rated Dwayne Johnson-Zac Efron comedy Baywatch slotted third with $1.34M at 3,647 with a running eight-day cume of $33.2M.

This is nearly same as AoU thursday number. If it follows similar drops on weekend as that it will be a great weekend for gotg2.

Fingers crossed. GOTG Vol 2 really deserves it.

Can't see how they make another Pirates with such a shitty domestic number.

According to deadline, after merch, rental, and if this makes 850 WW, profit will be 280 million.

In next five years they could make one just to promote merch and rides.

Yeah, Pirates 5 is in for a miserable drop this weekend. Doesn't help that it's a naturally-frontloaded movie whose opening weekend was heavily inflated by the holiday and that WOM is lukewarm at best.

Yes, bad Thu. But NBA game might have been a factor apart from WONDR.

150-160 compared to 240 of previous one is a dirty drop no matter what.

But still can hope for 23-24 weekend (62-63% drop)

Needs 85% bump on Friday like APOC.

Needs 55% bump on Sat (APOC and ALICE2 were +40-45%)

Needs 25% drop on Sun (APOC dropped 27% wahile ALICE2 dropped 18%)

That gives 6.3 + 9.75 + 7.3 =23.35 (-63% compared to APOC's 65% and ALICE2's 58%)

23+ makes 160+ very likely.

At this point it's probably more about merchandise and the theme parks. Plus it hasn't eroded it's audience overseas yet so as long as the budgets don't get any bigger they can probably make a few more.

Slightly better number for guardians than the deadline update. Ouch for alien and king arthur

BOM has GOTG2 raking in 13M this weekend. As much as I love Guardians, I think it's a bit of a stretch. 36% drop will be insane and may seal the 400m DOM.

11.5m seems like the realistic goal here. Even that would be impressive.

If it can track AoU for the weekend it'll get about 11.4.   -45% from Memorial Day 3-Day weekend would be a great hold in the face of it's first major direct competitor, keeping 400 still alive.  390 would be an achievable target with an 11.4-11.5 type of weekend.

And it'll likely have a softer drop next weekend.  The Mummy isn't likely to have the same impact as WW.
