Star Trek Beyond

Jason Bourne

Movie

Definitely a very sharp decline from both First Class and Days of Future Past but I enjoyed this well enough. Both the returning members (McAvoy, Fassbender, Lawrence) and the younger cast (Evan Peters' Quicksilver is just delightful) are fine, but I think the movie makes an enormous mistake giving the captivating Oscar Isaac such a generic and shoddily-written villain role. He's fine in the part, but I never found Apocalypse to be remotely threatening or interesting. B-

Biggest reaction came from the Quicksilver "Sweet Dreams" sequence.

Zootopia 1pm May 28th, 2016

Venture Cinema, Duluth, GA

I suggested that my stepfather and I should see Zootopia, and as luck would have it, it just started playing at the $3 movie theater. I told him that I expected at least 20 people at the show, and he scoffed. There were actually at least 30 people there: a good mix of friends, family and couples. There were about 180 seats in the auditorium. While the floors and seats were a bit grimy, I was impressed by the size of the screen and the sound system. It did an even better job of showing a cinemascope movie than some other first run theaters I've seen.

They laughed at the sloth scene, as expected. The children mostly sat at attention. It was dead silence at my favorite scene, where Judy apologizes to Nick. Strangely, they didn't laugh at Nick's reaction to it, like some audiences do. Shame they had to turn the lights on to max as soon at the directors' names came up. The audience spread like flies after that.

Edit:

Also, I think I heard some sniffles from the audience at my favorite part, but that might have just been the movie.

Is applause a common thing because at all the movies i ever watch I have only ever gotten a few assorted claps at the end even for TFA

It's common if the crowd is big, like maybe over 200 people, and if the movie is really good.

Wow, you guys get a lot more trailers than Arclight shows in LA.

When I went to see XMen (twice on opening weekend) there were considerably more open seats than full ones, but not nearly empty, and not peak times. And the theater was showing it in two different theaters.

I got Tarzan and Bourne (maybe one I forgot but definitely not more than three).  I was disappointed with Tarzan's trailer, as I want the movie to be good, and the Apes didn't seem well done (and they are kinda central.)  Bourne was better than I expected and got me interested in seeing it.  I hadn't even been paying attention to it.
