  1. THR's review is pretty much a rave! Lots of intimate moments, chemistry among the cast, Idris Elba getting to showcase his talent even underneath all the makeup, a story that truly sounds like evokes the core of the franchise...this really might be the best entry of the rebooted series. By the way, that review also includes a giant spoiler about the 50th anniversary nods.
  2. I hope Paramount re-issues all previous Trek films on Blu-Ray in preparation for Beyond. Yesterday I went to Fnac (the sort-of European Best Buy) and they only had ST09 and a double pack with Into Darkness. The rest were only on DVD.
  3. Motion Picture is technically one of the "best" ST films just because it's in the group of the good ones, but it doesn't have anything to do with II, VI, or First Contact.
  4. Oh woah. Some of the posters for this film are really, really good. Here is the video for Sledgehammer, which surprisingly doesn't feature any movie clip like the usual soundtrack videos. It's pretty much a Star Trek-themed Rihanna video. Watch it having more views than any film trailer.
  5. The video for Sledgehammer will be the first one to be premiered on IMAX, which will be tomorrow. Here's a sneak peak: I'm glad it won't be the usual video made out of clips of the film, though I'm sure it will have some of them.
  6. Oh, woah, what an 180 is this trailer. It looks way more spectacular than before. Also, I hadn't seen these two posters. The second one reminiscing of the original Motion Picture.
  7. A short clip of Sledgehammer here: I guess we'll get a new trailer.
  8. This is one hell of a promotional push. It probably won't be a big hit, but Rihanna always draws attention.
  9. I wonder if Paramount will retire his poster out of respect. I don't really know what's the norm in this kind of situations.
  10. So, so sad. I imagine the film will be now dedicated in his memory.
  11. It wasn't. I can't go into details because I'm not sure we're allowed to post spoilers, but it was more about presenting a new character rather than setting up a Wolverine film.
  12. Slightly better numbers than DOFP is pretty great, all things considered.
  13. I loved the film, even if I can see why it's clearly below X2, DOFP and First Class. But it was in a way the X-Men film I've always wanted to see, with all characters getting their time to showcase their powers. The first act suffers from the same issues of Game of Thrones: they have dozens of characters, each with their separate storyline and each in a different part of the world, where there's no chance to find any of the other people, so you just spend a great deal of time jumping from each story, which results in the feeling that the story as a whole is not advancing much. I was not expecting at all that they would re-introduce the Phoenix this early. And at the same time I'm glad they are coherent with their own vision from The Last Stand: the Phoenix is just the hidden powers of Jean, and not an entity from space. Comic fans would have like them to change it for this revision, but it would have been too messy with their own continuity. In fact, if you haven't seen The Last Stand, hence knowing beforehand that Jean has hidden powers, you would pretty much think this is a very cheap trick from the writers. Even if we do get an introduction with Jean's dream scene. And talking about continuity, I can't believe they are still messing things up. If everything has continued the same with Weapon X, why was it so important that Mystique and not Stryker took Wolverine out of the water in DOFP? Also, I don't understand why Singer was saying that something in DOFP made Apocalypse awaken in the 80s. Or was it the introduction of mutants in the 70s, which caused the reappearance of the cult to the first mutant?
