  1. Ladies and gentlemen, the show with one of the smartest and wittiest scripts on TV is back. 'Gilmore Girls' Revival Series in the Works at Netflix http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/gilmore-girls-revival-series-works-833108 The article notes that they are planning four films of 90 minutes each, instead of the regular 10-episode season.
  2. It looks very good, definitely not the B-class movie I was expecting. Although it's true that the trailer relies too much on the narrator's jokes. If films like Hotel Transylvania have worked very well for Sony, I can see this doing the same.
  3. I reckon if they hadn't use this approach with Arthur the character would have been just too similar to Robin Hood.
  4. I wish they would take the Once Upon a Time route and make her an actual psycopath. That was a hands-down great revision of the character.
  5. Very good premiere. Emma's personal voyage as the Dark One is going to be very interesting for her character. I loved how they integrated Excalibur in the whole OUAT mythology. What was not as smart was using the "amnesia" trick again. Even if they acknowledge it in the dialogue ("We have amnesia...again") it just shows a lack of imagination, which actually contrasts with the rest of storylines. I loved Merida, it's yet another excellent real-life adaptation of a Disney character.
  6. I had prefered Mad Men for the drama series winner, but an Emmy to Jon Hamm sounds like a nice send-off. The standing ovation was overwhelming. That was a GREAT speech, by the way. One to be remembered. You can follow her shows or not, but in the future we will talk about how much good Shonda Rhimes has done for diversity on TV.
  7. I think she is a great actress. It's just that the material she writes by herself is so much better than anything else written by others, so you can really tell the difference when she's acting with another person's script.
  8. I'm happy that things are moving forward with this entry. Hopefully the profits margin will be bigger than the last one.
  9. Am I the only one annoyed that the story puts humans co-existing with dinosaurs? I know it's just a creative license, but it only makes me think constantly of stuff like this:
  10. It's so close, though...we must be getting some teaser material any time now.
  11. Not really the same thing...Jurassic World simply doesn't reference TLW and JPIII, but they are still canon. Terminator would be a similar case to Star Trek 2009 or X-Men DOFP, they are still part of the continuity, and you actually need to watch the previous installments to fully understand the new one. Superman Returns and the new Alien actively contradict the sequels that precede them.
  12. I don't know about that. No actor from Mad Men has ever won an Emmy for the show. It would be bizarre that they awarded Hendricks and not the leads, Jon Hamm and Elisabeth Moss...and going from seven years without recognizing the cast, to give one or two acting awards doesn't sound very likely.
  13. Just watched the Rogue Cut. It serves as an extended cut, with the addition of a few irrelevant scenes and very slight changes to the original cut. I liked the addition of Rogue. We know the story can sustain itself perfectly without her, but I think it doesn't slow down the pace and the changes will be enjoyed especially by the people who wanted more prominence for the original cast. Plus, I liked that they put the work to provide good VFX to the new scenes. I was fearing there would be barely any action during Rogue's rescue, but thankfully they took their time to introduce more action and make it look as good as the rest of the film. There will be SPOILERS from this point onwards. I liked that Bobby is killed earlier in this version. It raises the stakes of the future timeline and it adds to the drama of that devastated future where everything has gone wrong. I think it works very well with the story. It's also nice that they used the rescue scene to give a further explanation of why do the Sentinels find them in the end. Again, it was perfectly explained in the original cut ("the Sentinels will find us, they always do") but it's always nice when they try to leave as few plot holes as possible. I didn't think it was necessary to suggest that they were being tracked through the arm of the Sentinel, it was enough knowing that they had exposed themselves with the operation on the mansion and, of course, they would be followed. That's pretty much it. This version is a nice gift because it goes beyond simply adding the Rogue scenes, and it introduces little changes that Singer probably just made out of perfectionism and love for her piece of work, because he didn't need to spend time and money on them. Example: old Magneto now goes back to the chamber thanks to Kitty and not Blink. It's irrelevant, but they took the time to revise it and work on the (minimal) VFX. This new viewing has renewed my love for the film. It's a very solid scifi movie that elevates the franchise by cutting loose ends, preserving the emotional conflicts that identify the series, and presenting a promising future. It's a dignified farewell to the original timeline (that last conversation between Stewart and McKellen is very emotional), and a very solid new entry for the current one.
  14. Great film, superior to The Heat and in my opinion, more rounded than Bridesmaids. Everything is superb: cast, script and direction, although I found the scene when Susan follows the car on her scooter a little confusing due to the editing. It just keeps surprising you every few minutes, introducing characters or adding twists to the plot. I found fascinating Susan's transformation into her bodyguard persona. It was refreshing while not feeling implausible. It seriously is the best comedy I've seen in years, and probably the best secret agent spoof film I've ever seen. A
  15. This really should have done better. It's such a great, funny film! Has it premiered in all important countries already?
  16. I think my main problem with it is that I was not expecting at all this kind of film.
  17. Pine and Quinto have signed for a fourth film: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/star-trek-3-stars-raises-805204
  18. That you can't read a book instead of watching the new film, because it's not a direct adaptation. Rowling wrote the script instead of writing a new novel, so the new films will be just as relevant to the canon of the series as the HP books. As opposed to the HP films, which are just someone's vision of the canon material. My point in this whole thing is just...do not underestimate a project so easily. We are in the JW OW record thread, after all.
