The cherry on top is that he is headlining a breakout hit inside a franchise that is about to expand with many other properties. After this weekend, he is bound to lead more Deadpool films, as well as an X-Force project (marketed as the rated-R version of X-Men) and at the very least a cameo in a future X-Men film. This really comes at the perfect time for him.

Will it be? I feel like since Deadpool is such a niche character compared to...every other super-hero*, this will perform closer to an original film breaking out rather than the usual comic book adaptation. *every other super-hero who's ever headlined his own film, maybe at the same level of Ghost Rider or Ant-Man.

The X-Files | New Season ordered by FOX

After a weak premiere, the second episode was much better. -
They most definitely move the planet/base to another system, from where they suck the new sun's energy and make another shoot. Which makes you consider why is the weapon focused on shooting rays, when they can just kill their sun. I guess they prefer to keep the distance from their enemies. How do they move it from one system to another? I guess they have a powerful shield, because it's not likely that a normal planet could keep its atmosphere intact while moving faster than light. It all gets slightly ruined if you think about the technical details, which is why I think we don't actually see the Starkiller moving.

It was a very good movie, but not a great one. Overall I would describe it as a good adventure film, that stretches unnecesarily the plot of a franchise. On the positive side: - Fantastic new protagonists. I like Finn very much, and Rey is a great discovery. Great, great character. The franchise is in good hands with these two. - It's a very well directed adventure film. The entertaining chain of events hide well how very light on the story it actually is. - Han and Chewie still have that great chemistry. - The Starkiller Base is rightfully terrifying. Very well done. - It's a beautiful film. Great direction by Abrams. - BB8 is adorable in the best way. They didn't give it more screen time than necessary, and it was genuinely funny. The negative points: - Terribly lame villain. I'm not surprised he fears not to be as strong as Vader, considering that even a rookie soldier using a light saber for the second time can hurt him. The acting was too plain for the kind of struggle he is supposedly living. I'm very disappointed with him. - The new supreme leader is just as lame. We still don't know his backstory, but we are reviewing this film in particular, and here it is a lazy knockoff of the Emperor in all aspects, even the looks. - Things like the character of Snoke makes it look like they didn't even try to hide their plan of remaking the original SW films with this, simply using the descendants as a way to keep the continuity, instead of rebooting the whole thing. - Characters like the New Order officials belonged to a SW parody rather than a main entry. They looked so slick, so bitchy, so exaggerated, that it was simply not believable. - It makes no sense wasting the talent of Lupita Nyong'o in such a random role. - Han Solo's death works dramatically, but I'm afraid the set back from ruining the comic duo with Chewbacca might be worse in the long run. The last scene with Rey and Chewie in the Falcon did not feel right. They will have to work hard on that chemistry for VIII to make up for Solo's absence. - The Millenium Falcon being in Jakku is one hell of a coincidence. They'll say it was the Force who put it in there...but it's just super-lazy screenwriting. - The way some scenes are obviously meant to expose facts like a robot is...again, lazy writing. - For such a great threat as the Starkiller Base is, it is disappointing that they dispatch it in the first film. It is also troubling that they follow the exact same scheme as the two Death Stars...the first time you accept it, the second time it's annoying, but you accept it, but now the third time feels like a parody. - There are not really any iconic scenes in the tradition of the pod race, Hoth, Tatouine...I guess the stand out is Jakku's desert with the crashed space ships. - The score is simply not memorable. And a few random notes... - The people of hair and make up did an incredible job with Mark Hamill. He looked like the hero he is supposed to be. - One scientific inconsistency that is killing me is how are they able to stand even one second on a planet with no sun. Forget all the effects to the gravity, they should have died instantly at the massive drop of temperature. And instead Finn is running around only with a jacket and a T-Shirt. The cons outnumber the pros, but I liked it very much. Thanks in a big part to Rey.

Star Trek Beyond | 7.22.2016 | Not an Oscar winner.

The music is a nod to ST09. It's part of that film. There's nothing artificial or arbitrary about it. -

That headline is a big exaggeration. It picks up two and a half years after they started their five-year mission in deep space, which was stated at the end of STID. What they are talking about are just lazy plot devices, but nothing remarkable. -

I'll tell you one thing. The audience who will watch this trailer with Star Wars will like it. And that's really all that matters. -

The trailer gives a vibe of a fun, adventure film. It's interesting they are not taking the 'epic' approach as other blockbusters do, even though this will come out by the 50th anniversary. The setting is not particularly interesting or exciting, but it does look entertaining. I laughed with the 'dying alone' bit by McCoy. Seems closer to an episode of the TV shows or the smaller-scale films like Insurrection, which could be a welcomed change of pace. Still, I don't think First Contact's title of the last truly great Star Trek film is in any danger.
