  1. Meat is an important part of the diet, but I will admit most people eat far more than is necessary, myself included (but it's so tasty ). I'm firmly in the "salad isn't food, it's what food eats" camp.
  2. I only just realized that in Crazy, Stupid, Love. There was just 1 F bomb, from Emma to Ryan, while in LLL the solitary F bomb was from Ryan to Emma.
  3. That's exactly when she became my favorite too. She was instantly on my radar right from Superbad, topped my favorites with Zombieland and cemented her #1 spot with Easy A and has easily topped my list ever since.
  4. A year ago I doubt a single person would have predicted The Accountant would be his best movie released in the next twelve months, and by a wide margin too.
  5. Oops. Well, not as funny, but still pretty funny.
  6. For "out of the blue random" nothing will ever beat Uncle Fucker from the South Park movie. I'm pretty sure a bunch of voters got together after a bunch of drinks and said "let's get everyone we know to nominate this as a joke and watch the reaction".
  7. Emma sure has come a long way. I kind of envy the fact she knew what she wanted at such a young age and made it happen.
  8. Yeah, it was very cool, I've never seen two movies perform so exactly alike, especially two movies released the same year.
  9. Yup. I remember it well since I was tracking it and watching with amazement as The Help's run mirrored Bridesmaids run virtually exactly dollar for dollar every single week for its entire run, from opening weekend to final total. The Help: $26,044,590 / $169,708,112 Bridesmaids: $26,247,410 / $169,106,725
  10. LLL seems to be winding down, any idea what the chances are it can hit 3 million admissions?
  11. I think it definitely did. Even back then when they were both up and coming, but not yet "stars" the chemistry was undeniable and the whole "Dirty Dancing" bit had a lot of female audience members salivating. The movie as a whole was quite good, but its best part was from the point "Hanna" storms into the bar and plants a kiss on "Jacob" to where he passes out and she gently gives him a peck on the forehead before snuggling up to him and going to sleep. I 'll watch that part every time it's on TV. CSL also had a nearly 4.5x multiplier, which for 2011 was amazing. If I recall, only something like 3 or 4 wide releases managed a 4x or better multiplier (and Emma starred in two of them)
  12. With the $ 16.63 4 day estimate that would put LLL over $76.1m by Monday and still building momentum. It will cruise past $100m with ease and right now I think $125m is the floor and at this point who knows what the ceiling is.
  13. Or to put it another way, about 1.5x to 2x what most people were thinking it would make. This is a terrible weekend for new movies, there are at least 5 holdovers I would see again before even considering seeing any of the new movies.
  14. Cineplex is really tempting me to see LLL again this weekend. They sent me emails offering a bonus 300 SCENE points to see LLL this weekend and they are also offering all movies for half the normal SCENE points on Monday, Jan. 16 (regular movies usually cost 1000 SCENE points for a free movie, on Monday it will be 500, VIP 19+ is normally 2000 points, Monday will be 1000). Very tempting.
  15. I just got home from work and decided since tomorrow is discount Tuesday I decided to see LLL again and figured I better buy ticket tonight. Well, I guess the effect of the GG wins has kicked in fast and strong, the 6:30 show tomorrow is already sold out. I then checked another theater (it's actually closer to home but I don't like it as much) and the 7:05 show is sold out, but I managed to get a decent seat for the VIP 19+ show at 6:30, although it kind of defeats the purpose of discount Tuesday as a discounted ticket for the VIP 19+ screen is as much as a regular full price ticket.
  16. They need something to go head to head with the Training Day TV series?
  17. Bet on it. This weekend was depressed by weather and next weekend LLL adds even more theaters (including IMAX) and it will have the buzz and advertising push following its record 7 GG wins.
  18. Seems like oddly contradictory statements on the record, not that it matters since LLL will sweep with 7. Most Globes won by a film: five, shared by five winners: Doctor Zhivago (1966), Love Story (1971), The Godfather (1973), One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1976), and A Star is Born (1977). Perfect records: One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest received six nominations and won six Globes, Doctor Zhivago and A Star is Born all received five nominations and won five Globes. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is the only film to win the Globe in all five major categories (Best Motion Picture, Actor, Actress, Director, Screenplay).
  19. Yay Emma. I'm on board the train to La La Land, full speed ahead for the sweep.
