  1. To each his own. I really liked Get Out, but I loved CITW. GO absolutely deserves to be fresh, even highly rated fresh, but at this point the hype has passed the actual quality. Realistically, almost no movie could live up to a 130+ 100% fresh start, expectations are in the stratosphere.
  2. OK, this made me smile. Gotta give the JW marketing team bonus points for this.
  3. I think JW will be more like 7.5 of that Friday, Lego closer to 16m, and 50SD about 9m. It's still early so those Fri. numbers could change too.
  4. I looked at his recent reviews, not 100% contrarian, but still a really high %. I Yeah, but he gave negatives to LLL, Moonlight, Manchester by the Sea, Loving, Rogue One.... and he liked Assassins Creed.
  5. Strange, I haven't noticed him there for years. He always stood out because if a movie only had like 3 negative reviews you could count on one of them being his, same went for universally panned movies, one of the rare positive reviews would be from him. I guess the streak ends when his "review" shows up at RT.
  6. And for being one of the only people to give Jack and Jill a positive review.
  7. He was kicked off RT, most likely for being contrarian in every single review. http://www.slashfilm.com/armond-white-kicked-rotten-tomatoes/
  8. It's a good thing Armond doesn't count at RT anymore, no movie would ever be at 100% longer than the time it took him to submit his "review".
  9. Wow, the budget for this is just $4.5m? This will be profitable after its opening day.
  10. Who could have predicted opening day in China would be around 130% of the domestic total?
  11. That got me thinking about previous winners so I pulled up the list. While I like a number of recent winners, when I look at the last ten years and think "which ones would I actually watch again if I was flipping through the channels and saw it on", the only one would be No Country for Old Men. The ten years before that there's 4, maybe 5 movies I'd watch again, 3 in the ten years before that. So for me the last decade has not been particularly appealing for the winners, I like some of them, but not really interested in seeing them again, but I already know I'd watch LLL again.
  12. Impressive. It shows the reviewer inflation over the years too. 163 reviews for a major release would be ridiculously low now, big movies like that would have 300-400 reviews now. 112/0 now
  13. The other side of the coin is there could be a contrarian who will break it just for the attention the first "rotten" review will get.
  14. I guess the target is now 110 to beat Boyhood's 109, unless someone has found a movie that started better than 109 Fresh reviews.
  15. That's what I said earlier. At this point the first bad review better be a doozy, it'll be such a let down if it's a lukewarm 2.5/5 with a couple of minor nitpicks.
  16. Almost every negative article about LLL wonders why they couldn't still be together, it's like they didn't pay attention to the circumstances. They were already separated for long periods with Seb touring and he was under contract for what sounds like at least two years, then add in Mia being overseas for a minimum of 7 months (4 month rehearsal and 3 month shoot), and that's if they started immediately and everything stayed on schedule, then there's promoting the film and premiers. Given the time zones and their work commitments even getting in a phone call would be difficult. After filming wraps Seb would still be touring and maybe recording for at least another year and it's strongly implied Mia's movie is a star making hit and she would be getting offered more roles and it's what she loves so she would be taking some of them and thus working months on end. They are both young and attractive (and now successful) and not likely to stay celibate for a couple of years.
  17. Looked up Moonlight, it actually had a negative review early, the 23rd review, by Slant Magazine Sept. 15. Boyhood's first was its 110th
  18. I looked them up: Zootopia: First negative was the 47th review TFA: First Negative was 63rd review IO: First negative was 85th review I just looked and Get Out is now 85/0, passing IO
