God why oh why didn't the studio interfere like they did countless times before and asked PJ to trim the runtime 20 minutes shorter - excellent 30-35 minutes shorter - perfectIt is painfully obvious why it wasn't as good as it should have been Here's hoping PJ is aware of this and is trimming down the next 2 movies

Yates = one of the most boring directors of all time Not once did he try something exciting nor amped the pace up HP would have been one great series if someone else directed final 3 books ( 4 movies ) ... I still don't know how after making the weakest HP movie he got the chance to do it all over again with HBP and finally to give us by the numbers finale that is DH

Don't get me wrong I am disappointed too I expected it to clear 1 bil with ease and challenge DH2 on WW chart But it is still going to gross a LOT of money and unless reports are inaccurate the film itself cost no more than 200 mil ( no less too ) which puts it comfortably in the green for both studio and PJ But yeah I'm pretty sure they thought they would get more too

Right here it is First and foremost its good ... its actually very good,,, but LOTR-good it ain't PJ still has the touch and is brilliant at bringing Middle Earth to life but yeah its bloated as hell ... The way I see it PJ had 2 paths ahead of him 1 - two movies and acclaim on the same level as LOTR and 2 - adapting everything he imagined And number 2 prevailed cause it also meant more money for everyone involved Everything in the movie is right ... other than the fact that first act is actually first 2 acts and the film only takes off in the final act ( post Rivendell ) As a fan of Tolkien I appreciate everything in the movie ... but I was also putting myself in the shoes of those that aren't ( shame on them but still ) and there is just flatout 40-50 minutes that should have been cut out completely Everyone does the job excellent ...PJ,actors ( Mckellen Freeman and Serkis are standouts ), cinematographer, WETA and so on Frankly it should be a 7 but since I am a Tolkien fan and I did personally like all the stuff that was put in its 8/10 from me btw this forum is not easy on LOTR so I don't expect to be in the majority of those that liked it ... baumer ain't giving more than a 5 I bet my 2 balls on that

The hype is there it won't disappoint OS but the question is what is the disappointment bar for this one I'm going with 950 mil OS ... 1 bil just seems a little scary

Liked the Regeneration and word is that this one's even better so I'm there B movie is my guilty pleasure

I'm also expecting 'Dead' Larry's return sometime in the final 4 episodes ( maybe the finale which will be 2 hours just like the premiere ) I kinda wish Simon makes a comeback he is by far the most intriguing character ... but that's wishful thinking can't see what role he could play in the storyline
