In defense of that scene, oxen are customarily slaughtered that way anyway. I believe oxen that were killed were consumed by the indigenous people and their deaths weren't just for a scene in the movie.

Having just seen SLP and ZDT, technically from last year, 2012 is now firmly my favorite movie year in living memory (I was too young to fully appreciate 1982, 1984 so I left it out).

What's with the widespread hate over Prometheus? I thought it was epic, had gorgeous cinematography and decent writing, and served as a worthy prequel to the Alien flicks. With that said, leaps of logic needed to be made for certain points but it was still, IMO, one of the better movies in a very strong year.

Big day Monday for the James Bond series. First Bond movie ever to hit $300 million (unadj). Well deserved.

What an enjoyable treat! I didn't know Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence had it in them! Bradley Cooper? Daniel Day-Lewis? Hmmm..... I'll still give it to DDL but it's a close one. Definitely an A.

IMO, the trade craft (1st half) was just as exciting as the latter half (prep, raid).

Since we've veered from most overrated movies of 2012 to overrated films in general, I'll have to add Zero Dark Thirty to the list after having now seen it. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the film and gave it an A in the Review boards. For those like me with CIA paramilitary/special ops fetishes, this is the best movie ever in that sub-genre, bar none. However, it's not the masterpiece all the Best Move of the Year buzz in recent weeks would suggest. That is why I say it is overrated. It's a very good movie and that's it.

Loved it. Well worth the wait! After HL and ZDT, Bigelow has finally erased the stain that is K-19 Widowmaker.

Yea, I'd add There Will Be Blood, No Country for Old Men to the list of 2007 greats. The others you mentioned would go in the Most Overrated Movies of 2007 thread. *ducks and runs*
