  1. I was expecting higher numbers for HS as well and the cinemascore is a little low but since it plays for an older crowd, let's see if this will have legs
  2. Finally saw it, loved the movie. I like the fact the princess here does not have a love interest and there's no "actual" villain for a change! And the soundtrack was good!
  3. That's a good number for The Campaign, save for TDKR, WB was not having good year so far

  6. I'm excluding the local movies here I've seen recentlyBrave - 9 / 10 (beautiful animation, lovely music and heartfelt story)Ice Age 4 - 6 / 10 (fun harmless kids flick, nothing more)The Dark Knight Rises - 9 / 10 (fitting end to the trilogy)Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter - 3 / 10 (so boring I dozed off in the theater for a few minutes for the very first time in my life)Rock of Ages - 7 / 10 (crazy fun albeit a little long)
  7. reviews for Hope Springs are strong and if this become a 100 million box office hit (which it has a shot at this point) then i think she's a lock for another nomination, not a win of course since the role is not baity and she just won
  8. Brave deserves a nomination, a win well I have to see the others first. ParaNorman is getting a lot of good reviews so far. And well maybe this year an indie/arthouse animation could win.
  9. I hope we will have tight race this year like The Departed-Little Miss Sunshine race a few years back
  10. Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close - I found it really touching and Thomas Horn nailed Oskar. I guess because I read the book that's why I'm bias!
  11. Mirror, Mirror has a shot, the costumer designer (Eiko Ishioka) won before and she passed away last January, they could give her a posthomous nod although the costumes in that movie are just OK, I like the ones she did for Immortals last year

  16. BRAVE (2D) Aug. 4, 2012 11:55 am, Glorietta 4 Makati City, Philippines 80% full in ~500 seater - lots of families and young adult couples in the crowd Trailers The Perks of Being a Wallflower - no reaction Diary of a Wimpy Kid 3: Dog Days - some laughs Hotel Transylvania - some laughs Finding Nemo 3D - I heard some chatter thinking it was the Part 2 already The movie Crowd responded well, laughing a lot especially at the triplets. During the climactic scene when the sun was about rise, heard some sobs and "oh no" from the kids. While this movie was released a little late here compared to most Hollywood blockbusters, the play date was actually good with Madagascar 3 and Ice Age 4 out of the theaters already plus Dark Knight Rises demand subsided, it had the family audience for itself so i think it will do fine here in the box office and maybe has the chance to beat Ice Age 4 for top animated film this year. I love the movie's heartfelt mother-daughter story and the amazing visuals. My full review here. I give this an A
  17. ^ Oh my God, that's a terrible experience! I hope you disinfected your feet when you got home as preventive measure for diseases. And this is not a typhoon for crying out loud, just a monsoon but we are already in state of calamity :(Did the floods are already subsided there? I hope the sun rises already, I'm sick of this weather!
  18. ^ Hope you're safe there. I live in Silang, Cavite and we don't have floods here thankfully but the rains are showing no signs of ending anytime soon Glad my work (in Makati) was suspended.Bourne Legacy's opens today but it wont make that much since a lot of areas in Metro Manila (which has the lion share of the country's box office) is submerged in floods. Hopefully the weather gets better soon
  19. Wimpy's budget is low so it can still earn profit and probably enough to get another movie
