  1. After in-depth discussion and examination, we have concluded that IMDb's message boards are no longer providing a positive, useful experience for the vast majority of our more than 250 million monthly users worldwide. Translation: Our message boards are the bridge under which some of the Internet's nastiest troll have gathered. We've never felt like providing any moderation and we're not starting now. So, we're burning down the bridge drive off the trolls. ?
  2. Either Collider Video or Screen Junkies said that Stahelski and the writer are pitching a series set in the John Wick universe. Lionsgate is keen on the idea and wants it developed ASAP. I vote for Lance Reddick's desk clerk as the central character, dealing with all that the assassins throw his way with Continental coolness.
  3. My grandmother gave me a copy of the book when I was three. She had owned it since my mom was a child. Hopefully this adaptation will stay faithful to the spirit of the original.
  4. Fandango isn't listing Lego Batman in my area yet, but is selling tickets thru Moviefone. Bizarre. Anyhoo, I noticed that it's showing in IMAX 2D. The Thursday preview IMAX @ 5 PM works out for me. I'm so happy it's 2D because 3D messes with my vision.
  5. Their appeal to senior citizens explains why these two movies are so popular with Academy voters, whose average age is in nursing home territory.
  6. I think that drastic weight gain/loss for mere film roles is insane. I watched a video about Bale's crazy weight loss for The Machinist, which entailed eating very few calories per day and drinking only water. That kind of bodily abuse borders on the pathological. Haven't these actors considered that they are acting these roles, not becoming them? Prosthetics, makeup and clever costuming can simulate those sorts of physical changes quite well, without the need to go to extremes. I won't even get into the stupidity behind actually eating raw animal parts, getting beaten up or the many other ludicrous things people do to avoid acting. The day may come when an actor playing a person with cancer undergoes chemo, or one decides to have plastic surgery to resemble a character. Don't dismiss the possibility. That would make a fascinating film, a surefire Oscar winner.
  7. Perri Nemiroff on Collider Movie Talk just said that there was an event yesterday where stunt performers from the movie did stunt walk-throughs with the press. They had reporters shoot airguns and pretend fight. The director and stunt coordinator were there, too. It sounded like fun.
  8. I thought Reilly was great. "We're all gonna die together!" cracks me up every time.
  9. John Wick once killed three men with a pencil. A fuckin' pencil.
  10. This ad played in the first half of the Atlanta/Green Bay game. It's hitting the right demo.
  11. Movies in which stuntmen died or were seriously injured sometimes use the deaths in their marketing. I can remember one movie long ago that had trailers touting the death of a stuntman in an underwater sequence. That horrified me as a kid, but plenty of others were thrilled for whatever reason. You can bet that no studio would ever brag that animals died on set for fear of eliciting a violent reaction from the public. The sad truth is that many people value the lives of animals far more than those of their fellow humans.
  12. As someone who despises the Power Rangers, I have to say that the second trailer was surprisingly okay. It wasn't great, but it didn't make me want to throw a shoe at my tv like the terrible show did. And the humor was mostly intentional, which is always a plus where cheese like this is concerned.
  13. Are you planning to see A Dog's Purpose to give a middle finger to all the bleeding heart dog lovers in the world?
  14. WB is holding a fan screening near me on Saturday, February 10th. That's brilliant timing for families with kids to see it early and spread the word. I entered a drawing for 4 tickets. There's a movie date with my favorite adopted nieces coming up if I win.
  15. The studio should get their own unedited footage from the set out to the morning news shows. If that footage supports their account, including previous practices for the dog, that would pour water on the flames. I'm sure we all hope that the dog wasn't as distressed as TMZ's report made it seem. They could consider having Hercules himself make appearances, even via Skype, to show the public that he's okay. Bottom line: get ahead of the story ASAP.
