  1. I agree. It seems some want to push the wom angle affecting it more than it is and ignore that TLJ has performed similarly to 2006.
  2. Yeah I'm surprised as well, considering how early yesterday we got a "clocking past $20m" article from deadline.
  3. Think the same where I am at. I was actually surprised Monday when I drove through town and saw that schools were still in, I figured Friday was the last day. TLJ has a fine Monday. Going by the way 2006 played out with it's 3 new openers on the 15th, the better holds will happen later. I would say starting Wednesday but how big discount Tuesday is vs 2006 could throw a slight wrench in that. But next week, TLJ should be posting increases over this week, thus huge numbers. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/daily/chart/?sortdate=2006-12-20&track=pursuitofhappyness.htm The new openers from Friday 15th were Eragon, Charlotte's Web, and Pursuit of Happyness. Things have changed since 2006 but there are some trends we can still use now.
  4. Great for Star Wars and Marvel reunification. Thought it will be interesting to see how Disney handles stuff like The Simpsons and Family Guy. They should use the 20th century label in a way they use to do with Touchstone
  5. It’s not childish. We are lucky he even shares his info with us.
  6. Santa Clause 3 (which opened on the 3rd) had an interesting roller coaster ride that week. Down 81% on Monday then up 60% on Tuesday, down 54% Wednesday, then up 70% on Thursday followed by a whopping 322% Friday increase. Of course that movie skewed way more family/kid than Thor 3, but the point is this Wednesday isn't determining any final total for Thor3. The doom talk in this thread is premature.
  7. A $100m opener in September is amazing. It would be nice if studios would take note of this.
  8. I'm gonna go bold and say Venom, if Sony doesn't screw it up it like the Topher Grace version. It has a decent release date (Gravity was huge in that spot) and I think it could play well in the Halloween season. A trailer of course could change my thinking.
  9. There's a 2017 Summer showdown with Guardians, Wonder Woman, and Spider-Man. And it's not a WW vs BvS, it's a comparison of WW and the rest of the DCEU (MoS and SS included).
  10. 1 (1) Spider-Man: Homecoming Sony Pictures $9,902,669 -34% 4,348 $2,278 $154,185,220 6
  11. SW8 definitely has a chance to do it. If future teasers/trailers/reviews can build up hype, combine that with Luke's return and unfortunately Carrie Fisher's death the OW could explode. Even so, there is the chance too it does like AoU- massive OW but short of its predecessor.
  12. Until we get Wednesday numbers, then there will be those claiming it won't pass x number or x movie, just as it was with GotG2 and WW.
  13. From the Deadline article So if correct- DM3 will have the widest opening all time, edging out Twilight Eclipse (4468)
  14. No, Superman 1 and II and Batman 89 had huge multis that WW won't come close to hitting. Of course those movies existed in a way different era so not a fair comparison.
  15. It was originally going to be on ABC, but they decided it to was too "cinematic" for that.
