  1. Well ill take Spielbergs assessment over that of some bitter, jealous Canadian broad... As i said i dont have any argument against you hating her because you are entitled to for any reason you like, just be honest about it, dont create a fiction to justify it. Why do you feel the need? Insecurity. With my nemeses i will hate them however good they are, they could both win Oscars for the next 20 years, id still not want to see anything they are in and my opinion of them wouldn't change because they annoy me, and that's the only argument I need.
  2. Sorry dear, but your bias is clouding your view. If you are going to be in a potentially recurring TV role in the US you are going to move to the US. The show may have been cancelled but you know what.. a lot of shows are.. often it has nothing to do with how good or bad they are. That was just bad luck, and happens to a lot of actors, both good and bad. Besides it had Lucy Liu in it, thats poison on its own.. She clearly didnt stink since Spielberg picked her for WOTW based on her role in LOTR. If you care to read her background information you will know that numerous times in her life she has shunned the higher end of fame, not wanting the sort of attention the A list gets. She goes for roles she likes, not roles that pay or expose. We all have our nemeses Fishnets, but at least be honest about why you hate, don't make up bullshit reasons or try tor spin everything they do as bad just because you don't agree with it.
  3. Who cares what other actresses do when they have kids, its an individual thing. Maybe she wanted to actually raise her child rather than have someone else do it for her. Living in Australia makes it harder for her to do Hollywood stuff and her husband is a successful actor as well. Not everyone wants to move to LA (god forbid). Ive known plenty of women who give up big careers for their kids. So what if she hasn't won 'big' awards, half those that have didn't deserve it anyway. She was fine in the part, but the part was annoying and i doubt it would have been less so if anyone else had done it. If you ever watch any Australian or NZ TV you will recognise a whole load of the actors from LOTR, Most of them did it, and went back to TV. It was Jacksons decision to recruit locally, noty all for them wanted to get into Hollywood. You need to stop judging everyone by your own bizarre standards.
  4. Well she won awards for playing Eowyn and then went on to have a child while filming War of the Worlds.. She returned to doing mostly Australian TV, which she was doing before, interspersed with the odd movie, like she was doing before. Hardly career suicide, it was just a continuation of her career. Most of the Aussie/kiwi actors in LOTR returned to the TV and the odd movie, like they were doing before.. LOTR may not have been a big breakout for most of them, but it was hardly career suicide. There is a limit to the number of roles for Aussies in Hollywood, especially if they cant fake an American accent..
  5. So glad Movie 43 is bombing. There was no way that was going to be good. 6% on RT right now and little chance of going up. In terms of stardom and the A list its very regional, even in the English speaking world. Cumberbatch isnt well known in the US but over here in the UK he is huge. Sherlock gets more viewers per first run episode than TA got in its entire cinema run, by about double.. Him being in ST2 is a bigger deal than ST2 itself.
  6. Needed more Q tech with Michael Bay silly effects attached i guess.
  7. Although it hasnt matched other blockbusters, according to mojo it will out gross QOS in just one week. Thats hardly a flop surely, within its franchise its will be a massive increase.
  8. She judges quality by either looks or success. Her versions of both by the way... and i doubt she realises it.
  9. Fishnets again you think Hollywood and celebrity is the be all and end all for everyone. News flash.. Its not. Its flashy, shallow and commercial. McKellen didnt really WANT to do Gandalf again, he WANTED to stay in Theatre and smaller scale movies. Movies are a side line for him. Most of TH actors are British, they are far less interested in shameless self promotion than American/Antipodean Actors, but hey its good money so why not?I didnt see anything in TA that proved any of them were better actors. I can see why perhaps a north American might think so, but that sort of acting and 'comedy' doesn't really translate. McKellen phoning it in > anything in TA.
  10. Z list rubbish compared to A list rubbish (well a strong B for most of them)? Popular doesnt equal good, honey. Most of TA cast are passable actors at best. Id take Nesbit, Freeman, Armitage and McKellen over the lost of them.
  11. Ill admit I fell for the fanboyism, but i still prefer TH as a movie.
  12. Fanboyism. Im willing to admit i fell for it. In my mind TH and TA should have had each others grosses. Oh well. More disappointing to me is the DOM:OS split. Even with China still to go it wont be the 25:75 to 28:72 i was expecting.
  13. Pretentious describes pretty much every Best Picture nominee this year and last years Best picture winner for sure .
  14. AR and AVP trivialised the franchise. Prometheus is just plain ruining it.
  15. Trouble is its a case of 'seen it.. next'.. The action in TA seemed really 'small'. TA was better than TF in a simply indescribably huge way, but that last battle scene. Copy.
  16. For me its about whether or not I was entertained. I dont analyse movies scene by scene, so minor issues with cinematography or editing or whatever dont bother me, I am willing to suspend disbelief if there are issues with the story or obvious plot devices. As a result of that the 'flaws' in TDKR don't worry me. Sure some of it is a bit stupid, but i just ignore that and move on.The Avengers however was less flawed, but also less entertaining. Stark is getting really annoying, Capt A didnt convince me he had any leadership skills at all and Thor seemed weaker. Only Hulk was good. The end battle seemed small scale and yeah, sorry, was TF3 revisited.Prometheus had a great story and was visually brilliant, but completely disjointed, badly edited and didn't fit in with the rest of the Alien universe at all. It was more damaging to the franchise than Alien Resurrection or even AVP.
  17. Pretty much hate all those Judd Apatow adjacents and similar types.. Jonah Hill, Jesse Eisenberg, Michael Cera, Seth Rogan, Andrew Garfield etc.. And Adam Sandler.
  18. Nothing much for me in the Oscars this year. Not a fan of sentimental movies or movies that seem constructed to win awards rather than deserve them. Most movies that ive seen that have won many oscars are great for the bits they won for, but leave me cold as a whole. Less than the sum of their parts.
  19. They are bit boring, and some of the noms and categories are contrived, but i think they are justified in nominating the big movies, after all, they are popular and make the money, they deserve to be beaten down and their 'fans' need to slap in the face like that to wake them up a bit. Not that they listen..
  20. While TDKR has its plot holes, BD2 has them to.. and holes of other sorts.. lots of them..
  21. I do, while it was popular with those that saw it, everyone else seems somewhat dubious about it.
  22. Its legs are stretching, but im still a little disappointed by the DOM/OS split at this point.
  23. I think it JUST worked with TH, but use of it needs to be selective. I dont think the usual Oscar fodder will be HFR anytime soon. Just imagine the first Transformers in HFR though, you would almost be able to see whats happening!
  24. SW and most comic book movies always were and always will be US events. Even the big grossers like The Avengers have a relativity poor OS split, rarely getting over 40:60 and often not even 50:50. The Nolan Batmans being a classic example. If The Dark Knight had a more normal 35/65 split it would have grossed almost $1.4B.
  25. Sure TDKR has its issues, but unless you unfairly hold movies to different standards there is NO way BD2 is better than TDKR. I dare say TDKR is disappointing compared to TDK and that the disappointment makes you hate it, but ALL the twilight series is so bad that no batman can be considered worse. The emotion in Twilight is shallow, there is no chemistry between the so called 'actors', the score is poor, CGI is better on TV movies, the dialogue is cringy and the entire premise is offensive.
