  1. Totally possible, but my money is on KFP3, especially since it was better received by critics and got an Annie nomination for best animated feature while Secret Life of Pets didn't
  2. But if you look at the history of this award, they usually go for more mainstream picks. That's why I didn't include Your Name or Red Turtle.
  3. Predictions for Best Animated Feature aka only category that matters: Zootopia Finding Dory Moana Kubo and the Two Strings Kung Fu Panda 3
  4. The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996) I simply cannot believe no one has added or requested this yet.
  5. I am fairly certain you meant 9th. I went over the list of Pixar films and the 2014 list a dozen times, and it's just not possible that one of the remaining Pixar films didn't make the list AT ALL.
  6. I knew the studio behind the Lego Movie wouldn't disappoint. Just watched Storks, and like The Lego Movie, it's HILARIOUS! I haven't laughed out loud so much watching a movie since forever. Warner Animation Group really are making excellent comedies, not like the shitty ones Dreamworks and other American animation studios are making these days. I am even more excited for Lego Batman now, which already looks hilarious. Oh I'm so happy we have a new (sort of) animation studio that's making decent movies. B+
  7. 1. Beauty and the Beast 2. Coco 3. The Lego Batman Movie 4. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 5. The Lego Ninjago Movie 6. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales 7. Spider-Man: Homecoming 8. La La Land 9. Rogue One 10. Logan
  8. I still think 2010 remains the best year for animation simply because I loved all of HTTYD, Tangled, and and Toy Story 3 (fav animated movie ever) way more than any animated movie that came out this year.
  9. Utter crap and unwatchable. Who the hell wrote that God-awful screenplay? F EDIT: So I just tried to watch it again, and actually, if you overlook the pathetic attempt at comedy, it's not that bad. Story is decent and visuals are spectacular. B-, quite a bump from F, I know...I was kinda angry the first time.
  10. Fuck, I jinxed it. DW announced today that HTTYD 3 will now release on March 1, 2019...
  11. Silence
  12. Oh wow that appears to be true. I hope it's the Wildwood one. I haven't read the book, but I do love fantasy!
  13. I don't think Laika has announced anything about their future release schedule so far. Besides, with their latest box office returns, I'm not even sure they'll survive this long. A shame, really.
  14. Next year will be so underwhelming for American animation. No WDAS movie, Cars 3 , Smurfs, Boss Baby, Nut Job 2, Emoji Movie... Only Lego Batman and Coco look exciting. Compare that to 2018: Wreck-it Ralph 2 , HTTYD3 , The Incredibles 2 , Gigantic plus any other surprise hits. Can we just fast-forward to 2018 already?
  15. You all need to listen to this (with headphones because volume is so low) to appreciate the amazing music in this beautiful movie:
  16. This is not a perfect film. It doesn't live up to its potential in the first two thirds in my opinion by not doing anything truly remarkable aside from spectacular animation. But the last third wraps up things really beautifully and makes you reflect very positively on the entire film. Now the more I think about it, the more I appreciate its simplicity and charm. The scene at the end with Te Ka is one of the most beautiful and intense in Disney or even animation history. I got goosebumps and teared up for the entire scene. The songs and music are quite nice and catchy, and they keep growing on me especially "Where You Are" and "You're Welcome." To my surprise, everyone sings excellently in Moana, even the Rock and especially Auli'i Cravalho (really beautiful voice). Also I really love how Moana doesn't have a love interest, and it feels totally normal (as it should be) and not forced (looking at you, Frozen) that I didn't even realize it until days after watching the film. Oh and bravo to John Musker and Ron Clements. It's hard to believe that this is their first CGI film. Overall, I'd give Moana A-. It's a really solid Disney film that diversifies their princess line and makes us appreciate and see the beauty in other cultures. I hope Disney keeps exploring different cultures in their future films.
  17. These are some of my favorites (not in any specific order): Arthur Christmas The Iron Giant The Lego Movie Anastasia Coraline The Simpsons Movie Song of the Sea Can't really think of others that I absolutely love. I have yet to see The Land Before Time, An American Tail, and The Secret of Nimh though, and those are all very popular. I also generally dislike Japanese animations with a few exceptions from Ghibli.
  18. I have to say I agree that it doesn't hold up well for me as a young adult. I loved it as a child, but when I tried to watch it again recently, I just couldn't sit through it. Too boring. :/
  19. If we're talking critically only, I definitely think the Princess and the Frog should be included because it's nothing like the mediocre/terrible Disney films of the mid-2000's, and it's a very solid film that has the feel of the renaissance era but with even better animation. Bolt is okay I suppose but also very forgettable and unremarkable. I'd say it's in a limbo between the eras. But once box office is factored in, then yes, Tangled is without doubt what put Disney back on track.
