It just makes reaching $1B seem like nothing then. It doesn't stay as the milestone to reach.
-
So if we re-released every film that made over, lets say $800m, and people went and they crossed $1B they'd all be as deserving?
-
It's not a true $1B gross. All these years later with 3D doesn't qualify (in my eyes) as a $1B film.Films like Avatar, Alice, Titanic, Batman - all of these are true $1B films as they made the Bil in their original runs.

I went to AMC the other night and I was shocked how expensive it was. Yes, me. Someone who used to work at a cinema. I was shocked at how expensive things were.It was like $7.99 for a Hot Dog!

The Conjuring is killing it! I might actually have to check it out if its doing so well!!Random note: Im in Santa Monica right now, and I have never seen so many cinemas in the one place. One street has two cinemas (a third which has closed) and there's another around the corner! It's ridiculous! Imagine having that in Australia. It just wouldn't work!- 10,875 replies

Weekend est pg 22 - 2 Guns 27.4, Wolv 21.7, Smurfs 18.2
Robertron replied to kitik's topic in Numbers and Data
Wow that's pretty insane. Either OS BO is gonna be down a bit with only a few big grossers or we're going to have a lot smaller-mid-range grossers ($150-250m).(FYI: my last post from Australia before I land in LA in about 20 hours from now) -
Wednesday BO: The Smurfs 2 $5.2m (official est.)
Robertron replied to Olive's topic in Numbers and Data
I was expecting around $4.5m so ill take that number if it holds. -

It's not a guarantee to increase that much. Russia and China are the only locks to increase, IMO. Countries like Australia: it made over AUD115m which is double the 2nd highest grosser of all time, leading me to believe a decrease is pretty much guaranteed.
-
Avatar 2 could do, OS, what Avatar did WW. The potential is there. As for DOM, $400m has to be the absolute floor. Even allowing for the massive decline in 3D popularity (a surcharge which really drove Avatars gross), it would be unheard of for a sequel to such a massive film to drop by over $350m!

Monday numbers (TW: 5.55, TC: 2.9, DM2: 2.28, T: 1.76, TGU2: 1.56)
Robertron replied to abra's topic in Numbers and Data
Why on earth would they stop investing $5m and making 100s of millions in return? Now that would be nonsensical. -

It will be tough. Brilliant if it does, by no means disappointing if it doesn't.

So weak estimates turned into weaker actuals... Hmmm... Methinks X-Men Franchise needs a break for a while.
