The BFG was a cute and harmless B- movie. For most directors, that's a compliment. For Spielberg, that's a pretty harsh criticism from me, he definitely can do better.
A person who's favorite movie of the year is Zootopia is criticizing A Monster Calls for being a children's movie?
(Hint: It really isn't, even if it got marketed as one.)
BAFTAS consistently miss 1 or 2 nominations in most categories. So I expect less Nocturnal Animals, Fanastic Beasts, and I, Daniel Break.
Plus, Blunt isn't happening. Lol.
However, I do think Nocturnal Animals along with Ford and ATJ have a decent shot at getting in now. Surprising.
I think Fences and Hidden Figures will get more Oscar love.
Silence is dead unless it can get some guilds.

A Monster Calls

Bayona), Actor (Lewis MacDougall), Supporting Actor (Tony Kebbell), Supporting Actress (Felicity Jones and Sigourney Weaver), Adapted Screenplay, Voice Performance (Liam Neeson), Editing, Cinematography, Original Score, Sound, VFX, Overlooked Feature , Hero (The Monster), and Most Disappointing Box Office Run
I refuse to give her my attention, my outrage or my mocking. Even making fun of her is just helping her reach an audience and succeed in her purpose.
The only way to beat people like Lauren, who rant controversy in attempt to get viewers, is to ignore them. If we had done the same to Trump after his first speech during the primaries, instead of giving him non-stop press coverage, maybe he wouldn't be president.
I'm okay with the Crown winning over Game of Thrones and Stranger Things (even if I prefer both of those shows), it's a good show.
Plus, I am still ecstatic Millie Bobby Brown got a SAG nomination. She's a real talent.
To be fair though, it's hard to change the percentage in a short amount of time. It's not like they're going to take away voter membership from white members, or stop admitting any new white members.
Nothings wrong with it. It's a fantastic movie. It just isn't the kind of movie I think plays well to the Oscars. I'm happy with it just getting nominated for stuff.
