^ He's just that big for marketing purposes. In the film, his official height is 108 meters, or around 1/3 the Eifel Tower. Now of course, in some shots Godzilla looks bigger/smaller but that's always been the case in Godzilla films & other monster movies.

I found the overall plot to be decent enough to keep my attention. It did get slow at points though. Visual FX and use of 3D were really great. Plus, I liked JGL here; he just had this sort of appealing energy. 2.5/4

Costumes & set are fucking great. -Acting is great. loved Chastain & Wasikowska were standouts for me. CONS: -I know how Del Toro's said "its not a ghost story, but a story with ghosts" but still, the ghosts here aren't scary at all. They're clearly cgi, and not very convincing cgi at that. Their scenes were too brief to have any real impact on me. -Emotionally, it didn't really connect to me either. I can't put it exactly into words. -For me it was slow..3rd act was kinda worth it though. Audience response: Some people left in the middle. Clearly some were expecting all-out horror, and that may affect its box-office dearly. Anyway, at least it looks good and the actors work with what they have. But its a step down from Del toro's past works, IMO. 2/4

If the Crimson peak team diverted some of that costume/set design budget to the CGI for the ghosts..I think it could have made a difference. A small difference like that could have helped with the WOM..and this needed all the help it could get.

Well.. he did lose to the Mothra larvae. And my point was Kong seems a lot tougher and smarter than these guys I just don't think it'll be very one-sided. But of course, its all just opinions.

Easily the best thing about the 2005 film. I'm pretty sure the Legendary team is aware of this as well, though.

Honestly, Godzilla vs Kong doesn't look like a mismatch at all when you consider the fact that Godzilla's been given a hard time by: Mothra, a giant moth. Ebirah, a lobster. Kumonga, a spider. And Mothra's larvae.

Gorosaurus would be cool, maybe to show us how Kong could overpower and outmaneuver larger opponents like Godzilla

Humongous T-rex? Plus, they could probably introduce some of the other Toho monsters as simply being Skull Island inhabitants. Wouldn't be that hard for the likes of Rodan.

Huh. A bunch of friends who watched this were expecting a Gothic thriller, not a horror. And they loved it. Guess it really helps watching this with the right mindset.

Sounds like King Kong & Godzilla to me...

I think the Universal monsters & Toho's Godzilla franchises may be older...

Tim Miller, mostly known for working on the openings of Thor 2 & Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Has good VFX experience, I'd say.
