  1. Stargate. Earlier I watched MiB and Small Soldiers. I kinda wonder if the people who watch Ancient Aliens think Stargate is a documentary.
  2. They could just about replace It's a Small World with it at all the parks. I'd really like to get copies of all the foreign languages for my music library. Pity they aren't for sale AFAICT.
  3. Right. It was gripping because the question was "HOW is she going to survive?" not If.
  4. For as long as movies are made, there may never be anything that ever tops the awesome ridiculousness of the Fast Five climax. Furious 6 tried really, really hard with the 28 mile runway, but it didn't quite get there.
  5. I did not ballot, sadly. Too new at this forum thing. I kinda stopped when I got to Best TV Show - Comedy, and wrote down two things based entirely on gifsets that I've seen on Tumblr... and then couldn't think of anything else.
  6. Breakfast at Tiffany's. Amazing when Hepburn is onscreen, and nearly unbearable when Rooney is.
  7. Just finished Bulletproof Monk. It's at least as bad as I remember it, possibly worse. However, I now realize that The Wolverine has almost the exact same plot, with far better execution.
  8. How far is it likely to go? 35 million possible? More? Less?
  9. Actually, those are pretty horrendous drops for everything compared to the estimates, except for RA and Frozen. Frozen is bloody invincible.
  10. Saw Jack Ryan. Only about 8 people in the theater, but it's pretty enjoyable. Pine does well in the role. The advertising is a little misleading, though.
  11. Still better than 2010. When their highest grossing film came from Fox Searchlight, and only one other even topped 100 million.
  12. I wouldn't say 1B is "very slim" If most calculations have it at 950, it only needs a bit more from somewhere to cross the mark. Domestic earnings should be more than 40 million, for instance. Japan could break out and earn more, too. Other markets could fluctuate. I'd say 1B isn't likely, but it's not especially slim, either. It's probably more a concern whether it tops DM2 both DOM and WW. That's what I'd like to see.
  13. Couldn't get into The Fall so much. The other four are great. I also have a soft spot for Bolt.
  14. The Numbers Station. It seems okay, but a bit uninspired.
  15. The legs of recent MLK openers has not been especially great. Just about everything earns between 40 and 50% of its total in the 4-day. Assuming all the openers hit the 40% mark, that would give them totals of: RA: 106-132 (depending on if the 4-day is 48 or 53 million) NJ: 66 JR: 55 DD: 25
  16. That part's believable. I have a tough time believing it's only an 11.7 3 day, though: That'd be like F 2.5 / S6 / Su3.2 / M5.3 Sunday's drop shouldnt' be any bigger than 20%: F 2.5 / S6 / Su 4.8 / M5.8 = 13.3/19.1 3/4 day or 25%: F 2.5 / S 6 / Su 4.5 / M 5.4. = 13/18.4 3/4 day.
  17. Nikki Finke ‏@NikkiFinke 4m MLK Box Office: #7 Fox horror newcomer 'Devil's Due' didn't scare up more than $8.7M FSS and $9.8M FSSM.
  18. Nikki Finke ‏@NikkiFinke 50s MLK Box Office: #6 Sony's SAG winner 'American Hustle' still hanging in $10.7M FSS and $13M FSSM for $118.6M Cume.
  19. Nikki Finke ‏@NikkiFinke 30s MLK Box Office: #5 Disney hot holdover 3D toon 'Frozen' still on fire with $11.7M FSS and $17M FSSM for $336.6M Cume.
  20. I suppose one advantage of the AARP endorsement is it's a crowd that doesn't really feel the need to get out there opening night.
  21. Nikki Finke ‏@NikkiFinke 4s MLK Box Office: Universal comedy 'Ride Along' $42M-$45M FSS and $48M-$53M FSSM. Biggest MLK opening ever.
  22. Why are you doing this to us? This is as bad as an argument about Goku and Batman.
  23. January and September are the only remaining months without a 200 million dollar film. The openings are definitely on the way up, but the legs aren't there, yet. I wonder which will pull it off first.
