  1. Smokey and the Bandit II ...Which I have never seen, nor do I intend on ever seeing. But the #1 movie of the year more than made up for my crappy "Birth" Day: The Empire Strikes Back!
  2. Wow, big drop for Almanac, while AS Friday #'s are staying the same. No comment Loft.
  3. It already is very profitable, but no to $400+. Do you think it can still match/beat POTC unadjusted domestic total.
  4. Wow! After just one week Cake is losing over 100 of it's theaters. So much for Aniston's fake Oscar hype.
  5. $10M was to good to be true for TBND. AS looking at $60M+ over the weekend.
  6. You totally missed the point. Yes AS is a 2014 movie, and it will be counted as a 2014 movie ala GOTG, MJ1, Unbroken, etc... But if you look at the 2015 total box office #, any 2014 movie (including AS) that has made money since January 1,2015 will be counted in the 2015 domestic gross. Clearly $716M listed in the 2015 yearly gross didn't come from the movies that opened in 2015 alone. From BOM yearly box office: Total Gross is the calendar gross for that year, meaning actual revenues during the time period, including holdovers from previous year. For a full discussion of calendar grosses, see our page:About Box Office Tracking.
  7. And it hasn't opened in Japan yet, so $250M for the first one is more likely. I'm predicting $350M OS for The Scorch Trials.
  8. Yeah, I figured it out after posting, lol. It was $90.2M for the weekend.
  9. For you Harpospoke: Sheriff of Nottingham: Locksley! I'm gonna cut your heart out with a spoon! Robin of Locksley: Then it begins... Sir Guy of Gisbourne: Why a spoon, cousin? Why not an axe? Sheriff of Nottingham: Because it's dull, you twit! It'll hurt more! I want this brigand found. Starve them out, slaughter their... No, take their live stock. I want Locksley's own people fighting to bring his head in.
  10. Locksley, I'm gonna cut your heart out with a spoon! Just a minute. Robin Hood steals money from my pocket, forcing me to hurt the public, and they love him for it? That's it, then! Cancel the kitchen scraps for lepers and orphans, no more merciful beheadings, and call off Christmas! (after running Guy through) Well at least I didn't use a spoon. Isn't he just a compassionate soul.
  11. And let's not forget, besides Morgan Freeman, the best part of the movie was Sheriff Alan Rickman. God, I was around nine or ten when I first saw this movie. And my friends and I would quote all of his lines every time we saw this.
  12. Great increase for Imitation Game and Unbroken.
  13. Reread his post, you'll get it.
  14. You're right. Here in Georgia, school started today instead of Monday.
  15. Not really, if you take this quote from Ray Subers of BOM into account: "A quick note regarding weekend projections: while Friday, January 2nd is technically a work day, it is sandwiched between a holiday (New Year's Day) and a weekend. As a result, nearly everyone takes off from work that day, which translates in to bigger-than-usual attendance at movie theaters. What this also means is that Friday will account for a bigger share of the weekend box office (looking at past examples, it should be at least 37 percent)." With last week opening being a holiday that lasted until Thursday, harsher drops were expected, no?
  16. WIB $15.15M Edit: kayumanggi, damn you're fast, lol.
  17. Considering that $1.5M of WiB Friday's numbers are from previews, I think the weekend total will be closer to $13M.
  18. Pfft...Unbroken will still outgross NATM3 over the weekend, plus NATM will have a steep drop during the week days with kids going back to school.
  19. Those family movies are going to have some ugly drops after this weekend, but at least they're raking in the numbers before then.
  20. I'm not sure why you guys are surpised by ITW's numbers. All family films had small drops from Sunday due to kids being out of school this week. It's next week's numbers that will be telling.
