  1. Transcendence. I haven't seen other movies with him since.
  2. What? He's one of the best actors ever. And after all the shit he got in the last few months for nothing I like him even more.
  3. I know. But it wasn't expensive to make and it clearly has great WOM. It should have no problem making 3x it's budget with OS.
  4. ?It is registering better holds than Argo after a bigger OW. Might make a profit?
  5. They really need it. Out of all studios, they have the most horrible year. Outside of Ghostbusters, Sony actually did really well with all of their movies. Paramount had expensive bomb after expensive bomb after expensive bomb. This might be the worst year in studio's history.
  6. I guess it depends on the reception. The next Langdon book is my most anticipated book. And it will always be so, because Brown is a master at crafting the kind of novels you lose sleep over.
  7. Same shit. Inferno will be a huge success. If it manages 350m WW on a 75m budget it will get money from the theatrical run alone. That would be almost 5x the budget. In what world doesn't that grant a sequel.
  8. Inferno October 16, 5:30 PM, 80% full Trailers Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (weird choice; it was the old trailer; chatter) Jack Reacher: Never Go Back (no reaction) The movie was decent. A lot of people debating after it was over.
  9. Wanna bet? Sony has no franchises. The made a sequel to Smurfs 2 which made what Inferno will make on a way bigger budget. If they can keep the budget to a similar level, they will make money even if the movie only makes 200m WW.
  10. Ok, back from Inferno. Oh Gosh, so many thoughts. So, I liked the movie for the most part. I thought it was a great ride up until the finale. And then everything went to shit. I AM PISSED. They changed the finale. Completely. It's like they missed the whole point Dan Brown was trying to make. Getting over that, the soundtrack is good towards the end of the movie, but it doesn't even get close to Angels and Demons, which has one of the best soundtracks in movie history. Every piece of that composition is memorable. And the movie moves way way too fast. It should've been at least 30 minutes longer. Everything is so beautifully explained in the book. The movie makes it look easy, when it was actually really hard to figure out the clues. What I did appreciate the most were That being said, I can't wait for Dan Brown's next book and for the next adaptation. Let's be honest: this will be Sony's biggest hit of the year. And the movie was surprisingly cheap to make. There will be a sequel.

  12. I'm about to leave for my IMAX showing of Inferno. Been listening to the DVC and A&D soundtrack for the past hour. Holy fuckin shit. I am so pumped. My second most anticipated movie of the year after Fantastic Beats is here and my fanboyism reached that critical level where I can't concentrate on anything until I see it. I hope it will be amazing.
  13. There is no way this hits almost 400m OS. DVC had the huge controversy going for it and Tower has sold a fraction of what DVC did. Plus, King is more of an American thing. Also, my best friend is an SK fangirl (she read almost every book he ever wrote). And she isn't sure she'll see the movie because of the casting. And I tend to agree. It's good for diversity, but that's not Roland.
  14. That's better than what The Town has and very close to Argo. Iknow it has competition up ahead, but I still think it is hitting at least a 3.5x multi, which would give it roughly 85m after a 24-25m opening.
  15. As for The Accountant's mid-20s OW, that is better than Argo and The Town. People seem to forget how leggy Affleck's movies are. Now you could argue that the reviews are not comparable, but WOM is. Look at the audience score on RT, that is actually still rising. It stands at 85%, which is the same as The Town and a bit lower than Argo. This will be another badly reviewed movie with excellent legs. I think it will end up around 85-90m, with an outside shot at 100m.
  16. Storks has about 20-25m left in the tank DOM. And it still has a LOT of major OS markets left. Actually, it has most of them left. It opens in UK, France and Poland (plus a other few smaller territories) this weekend, and still has Germany, Japan, South Korea, Italy and a bunch of smaller ones on the way. And t had great holds in the countries it opened to, just like in the US. It will fly past 200m and 250m is very likely. I see it ending somewhere around 270m, which should be enough to turn profit from the theatrical run (add in auxiliary revenue and WB has a nice little hit on their hands). Could've been bigger? Of course. But that doesn't change the fact that it doesn't belong in the flop category.
  17. It's not really the same thing. Ghostbusters made 1.6x it's budget WW. That is pretty bad. Peregrine will likely come close to a 3x. Storks could get a 4x. Mag7 will get a 2.5x. Deepwater is the only movie that's in the same situation as Ghostbusters. The other movies will actually make money. That's the difference.
  18. Still, it's less than a 20% drop from last Thursday.
  19. That seems great, especially with the ER.
  20. And yet another hit for WB. Lol. This is a dream year for them. They only have FB, Collateral Beauty and Live by Night for the rest of the year. And Collateral Beauty is the only one that I see having a chance of flopping.
