kind of sad that I could only find one female performance that I liked enough to nominate. I'm no feminist but that kind of sucks. I only saw like three movies with a lead female.

enjoyed it quite a lot. a real slow burn, it never outstayed its welcome. it felt very authentic, partly due to the production design, cinematography, partly because of the excellent performances, and partly because it takes itself very seriously. There is not an ounce of humour in the film, which is really quite rare. It works well but in the screening I was in, everyone else was bored and started talking among each other.

Changed my vote to Greatest Showman. not many movies can go from flop opening to certified smash hit by the end of their run. It's an amazing run but if you're trying to compare it numerically then bear in mind it opened on a wednesday so not quite a fair comparison to a friday opener. -

Why 16 weeks? Generally speaking, 97% of gross is made in the first 6 weeks. More options for the consumer would be a good thing not a bad thing.

Yep. One of very few remakes/reboots of older movies that puts a proper twist on it and makes it fresh.

It's an awesome film. Rewatched it last week. Had the privilege of seeing it in the cinema a few years ago, it holds up very well. Verhoevens sci-fi trilogy is amazeballs.

As for Hostiles, it brought in $370k from preview showings at 1,893 locations on Thursday night. This is $170k ahead of what The Promise brought in before opening with $4.1 million and virtually on par with the $365k brought in by Free State of Jones before it opened with $7.5 million.

no reason it should be any more backloaded than scorch trials. I am still very doubtful of that budget btw, but I suppose a delay between production is not the same as reshooting i.e. they're not spending any more, they just stopped production for a while.

Huh. Cast of the film on GNS tomorrow - why? Graham Norton usually has guests for a movie being released that day or the following week. Very unusual to have promotion for a film that's 6 months out, especially for that to be exclusively who's on the show. Could have had guests for Downsizing, 12 Strong, Last Flag Flying, Maze Runner, Den of Thieves, 15:17 to paris...
