  1. This is something I'd be curious to see actually - whether the general audience actually still make up much of the ticket sales. I strongly suspect that a bigger portion of the audience is fans than GA when it comes to a lot of superhero films & other franchise films. That could also explain failures such as Dark Phoenix, because actually most of the people who saw the x-men films are clued up on it.
  2. Sorry to harp on about the release date again, but if this opens to low numbers (it's a romcom so... wouldn't be unheard of), it will be out of theaters before the start of December. I don't see why they couldn't release it on Thanksgiving... Yes legs are cut off after 25 Dec but that would still give it 4 solid weeks, plenty of time to make a bang.
  3. Regardless of when they made the decision, I still don't understand why they made the decision. From a business perspective -- do they really think it would be more profitable to not release it, than release it now? And like, it wouldn't be released off the back of these shootings. There are frequent shootings in the USA and the film was scheduled for 27 September. No one will even remember the two shootings by the time The Hunt would have been released. Any outrage would amount to very little, I'd have thought. There's enough people who go and watch these small budget blumhouse type horror/thriller films. I don't understand the business rationale behind this - could someone explain? The only valid explanation I've seen and could imagine is that Universal knows the film is absolute dogshite.
  4. To be honest he hasn't really done much outside of MCU while he's been involved, other than the Sherlock Holmes films, which were successful - but it's hard to say whether much of that was down to RDJ. It's not like Sherlock would have flopped without RDJ, in my opinion. Well-received big budget tentpole film released at Christmas. He starred in Due Date which did just about reach 100M but was seen as a disappointment coming off of the Hangover (same team and same actor Zach G). The only other films he's starred in was The Judge and The Soloist, both of which flopped.
  5. Ryan Reynolds is the most annoying actor in Hollywood, since Deadpool was such a smash hit now he is just hired to do the same, irritating drivel every time. Those "edgy" company tweets is a great comparison. Also agree about Dwayne and romance. Hoping they don't do the same with Jungle Cruise with Emily Blunt. Might puke if Dwayne/Emily Blunt is a thhing.
  6. THR: Set disbelief aside, and primal phobias may well suffice to get you happily to the other side of this adventure. Bloody Disgusting: although Uncaged sometimes struggles to find new ways to thrill us, shark-style, there are just enough scares to make this sequel a decent matinee. The Guardian: As an unrelated sequel to a film that was originally set to premiere on the bottom shelf of a supermarket, this is better than it needs to be.
  7. LOL imagine thinking Beyonce is a bigger movie star than Melissa Mccarthy, good one Ororo Munroe!
  8. Holy shit. Apocalypse now is amazing. i can't remember the last time I was this excited to see a film, and it totally delivered. absolutely mesmerising. I did not know how beautiful it is either. amazing, amazing, amazing. and glad I paid the extra for the IMAX theater. what an incredible experience, really thrilling, in every sense. that sound tho.... I felt like I was in vietnam.
  9. the endgame spoiler ban is such a joke I have to agree though, much as I love that character, it would harm the stakes. I don't care that they were in Endgame, if they come back for real then it kills the value of stakes. That's the main reason I didn't like Infinity War. Because major characters had died and then at the end it was like "ok well clearly no one's actually dead they're coming back next year". turned out with the way that endgame handled it, together they work well, with the exception of one character who should have stayed dead in Infinity War.
  10. And in contrast, Ghostbusters made 128M in the US v. men in black only 79M. GB2016 clearly cannot have done that badly as they produced another sequel coming out next year. Did not do much damage to brand from distributor perspective. Would be surprised if in 4 years time we hear even the slightest inkling of anything relating to Men In Black.
  11. This seems pretty niche audience only for theatre die-hards so they are probably not expecting huge things. Don't know what the budget is though. That is tragic.
  12. I don't think that is true. Captain Marvel first movie made a lot more than first Iron man. Captain Marvel is an icon for girls. I'm fine with that. Captain Marvel, Thor, Black Panther, Spider-Man, Hulk, Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, as well as the smaller characters like Bucky, Falcon, Hawkeye, etc. And new characters Blade, Shang-Chi, Eternals, and others introduced in new movies plus potentially Guardians of the Galaxy depending on how things pan out (don't know if the cast want to return after gotg3)
  13. would guess maybe 2024? they'll probably spend a little while building the team and by then they've introduced all of the currently announced new characters, and I would assume they will make black panther 2 before Avengers 5.
  14. Almost certainly given it is a Richard Linklater film. IMDB has it listed under Comedy, Drama, and Mystery. In what way does it smell of an awards movie?
  15. 1. Alita: Battle Angel (2019) 2. Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) 3. Logan (2017) 4. The Dark Knight Rises (2012) 5. Guardians of the Galaxy, vol. 2 (2017) 6. Batman Begins (2005) 7. Avengers Endgame (2019) 8. Dredd (2012) 9. Marvel's The Avengers (2012) 10. Shazam! (2019) 11. Thor (2011) 12. Captain America: The First Avengers (2011) 13. Men In Black (1997) 14. Batman & Robin (1997) 15. Spider-Man 2 (2004) 16. Iron Man (2008) 17. Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) 18. Iron Man 3 (2013) 19. Big Hero 6 (2014) 20. Captain Marvel (2019)
  16. I have to wonder why their PR people think it's a good idea to have their egos working OT on twitter. Dwayne could have just ignored it but no he's just as bad.
  17. serves the tumblr execs right, banning porn on what's basically a porn site, made no sense whatsoever. Glad the company has collapsed.
  18. ya this film was super dull and pointless. I liked some of the imagery tho and the bear was cool
