  1. As promised, here is my interview with Lenny: http://www.statepress.com/article/2015/10/festival-circuit-room-lenny-abrahamson-tiff-hampton-international-irish-director
  2. It does. It takes a sickeningly sweet, sentimental route. This in part because Boyle isn't Fincher and in part because of Jobs' death.
  3. The accent gets better as it goes along. Actually it isn't the accent that is bad. She just doesn't have one in the first act, a little in the second and a thick accent in the third.
  4. Production design seems like Carol, Joy, The Danish Girl, Cinderalla, Star Wars. Costume Design: The Danish Girl, Carol, Cinderalla, and the probably fluff. Far From The Maddening Crowd, Tulip Fever (if it comes out), Joy? The Dressmaker would be so great here. Totally deserved. The Martian has a better chance at two noms (screenplay and visual effects) the five, let alone nine. It is the safest movie ever and the reviews reflect that. Spotlight has actually a 0% chance at a cinematography nod. That's the most basic part of the production. Besides, Cinematography is stacked especially since at least one spot will go to a foreign film.
  5. My director interview for post-poned until today, but I'll post the article when I get a chance. I bet this has a great PTA this weekend.
  6. Girl, when it is Cate Blanchett. I like to think I'm pretty good at guessing the Oscars. I trust Cate. And I've seen Brooklyn. And pretty much every contender.
  7. I think Brooklyn is safe. I mean, Cate Blanchett loved it.
  8. I hate this year man. Room is up to 85 on Metacritic.
  9. Yeah. It is okay. This year is so tough though.
  10. I think this race is the most open. Anyone who gets nominated could contend for a win. I think Elba is in contention too. And Jackson. Oddly enough, I don't think del Toro will get nominated, but if he did I think he could win too!
  11. Speaking of old people, I wish 45 Years could break out besides Rampling. Supporting Actor, Screenplay, Picture and Director are all so deserved. The tenderness of Haigh's direction is splendid and he really lets the two leads excel. J'adore.
  12. I still think it is SPC #1 and a secret weapon. It got great response at Telluride, Toronto, NYFF and has a good release date. Usually the foreign films to break out big do it sneakily. That all being said,my confidence is faltering. It isn't in any of my above the mom predictions. Right now I'd have it in cinematography, sound mixing, and foreign language.

  19. I meant the accent. Not the performance. The performance is great and probably a real challenge for a serious actor. You have to balance the camp and the rest of the QT tone and quirks. I love the performance.
  20. I love Aldo! One of my favorite QT characters. It's supposed to be bad. Where is everyone's camp sensibilities?!?
