  1. I don't think I can. It is a 6 hour drive both ways and there is no certainty I get in. I'll just wait for AFI and cross my fingers it premiers there.
  2. Wow. I just watched this last night. This is the best film of 2014 and Dolan's second best behind I Killed My Mother. Dolan is a genius and one of the most interesting young directors working now.
  3. And The Martian. That being said Joy is there ticket to Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress and many other categories. It isn't moving. JLaw doesn't mind campaigning and she knew that was going to be part of signing on for a DOR film.
  4. Agree with everything you said. Winslet has had some inspired choices the past few years.
  5. Yeah. Tapley is just talking. He has no idea what he is saying.
  6. Wow. This looks absolutely insane. I wonder if it'll be any good. Winslet might be hotter now than ever.
  7. Right right right right. It is a really good opening, especially considering the month. But, it came in 1.2 million below the estimate which certainly isn't great. I wonder what led to this.
  8. Maybe a little. Tarantino is a total cinephile though. He has seen so many movies and I would argue has a vast knowledge of the art form. I don't agree with most of his opinions (especially about Blanchett, as you know) but I think he deserves to be a tastemaker. I think my love for AH is well grounded. All my favorite critics raved it to death. I remember Lemire saying something like 'DOR out-Scorseses Martin Scorsese' and that's exactly how I feel about it. It is my favorite Scorsese movie not directed by Scorsese and I think DOR still brings his sensibilities to it. I love it.
  9. Silver Linings Playbook is great and American Hustle is a masterpiece and one of the best films of the decade so far.
  10. That was never Spielberg's intentions. Why would he want to make a mediocre movie when he can make a good interesting historical espionage flick. The comparison is beyond stupid and you are giving us a peak of you bad taste. Next please.
  11. What? Everyone having Ramirez in lead without seeing the film and hearing from one person he is co lead. It is reactionary. I might have him in my predictions too. It isn't that warranted though.
  12. Anecdotal. That won't neccisarily equate to big box office receipts. But maybe it will breakout like AS, who knows. And by 'the bro type' I mean the people who show up to Tarantino films.
  13. You can't exclude those two because this is just a 165m "awards play." And The Revenant isn't commercial. The only people who care about this movie is the forum and like the bro types. It isn't going to make money.
  14. It is uneven as hell. The first act is dramedy, the second is basically straight comedy (that is quite funny) and the third takes a really dramatic turn that doesn't really work. In pieces it is good, but as whole it doesn't work. The message is really disconcerting, in my opinion and it when it tries to turn important it reads smarmy. Bullock's performance is really really good though. I think about it a lot. If the movie was better she could've lander herself an easy Oscar nomination.
  15. I hated the first hour and actually love the caper element before the actual walk haha. The narration was done so poorly.
  16. lol at people dismissing Mad Max. It will have huge support in many technicals and they vote for BP. I'm not predicting it, but it could total happen. And Inside Out is in.
  17. The dream for Del Toro? Because I don't know why someone would actually want Stallone to get a nom. That being said I think Stallone could be a darkhorse for a nom especially if the rumors about the character are true.
