  1. MAN OF STEEL - so under-rated WONDER WOMAN BVS SUICIDE SQUAD JUSTICE LEAGUE
  2. This was a VIDEO GAME. Not a proper FILM. I miss the Nolan days when DC films looked and felt grounded, real, and believable. If you want to do fiction, make it believable. And if you want to do drama, raise the stakes by bringing real villains that don't look like a mess of CGI. Mess. Very disappointing. 3.5/10
  3. Going to be really interesting - and certainly surprising - when the top 5 films worldwide of 2017 have only 1 superhero film. (SW8, BATB, FF8, DM3 being the first 4). And even more shocking that it may end up being Thor and not Guardians nor JL.
  4. Agree with this. I believe the main reason why WW worked is that it was the most believable and least CG, video-game-like film of the DECU. Yes it had CG but the film's WWI setting and overall execution felt grounded and real and not a video game like Snyder's films.
  5. Mario + Minions: ‘Despicable Me’ studio is ideal fit to reboot the plumber’s movie career Nintendo is partnering with Illuminations on a new Mario Bros. movie, according to The Wall Street Journal. Mario is Nintendo’s biggest brand and gaming’s most recognizable icon. Mario games, including platformers, sports, kart racers, and more, have sold more than 500 million copies. A movie based on plumber superstar should be a slam dunk, but Nintendo has reasons to be cautious. A live-action Super Mario Bros. movie came out in 1993, and critics and fans panned the film for its unfaithful adaption that focused on a darker and grittier version of the Mushroom Kingdom. Nintendo has since distanced itself from the movie. But a 3D animated project sounds like a better fit. Just look at the newest Mario game, Super Mario Odyssey on the Switch. Its handful of short cutscenes are charming. Illuminations is also a great choice for the brand. The studio has created popular and humorous animated films with Despicable Me, Sing, and The Secret Life of Pets. Illuminations has experience bringing unique worlds to life. Its last film, Despicable Me 3, has made over $1 billion in the worldwide box office. Also, Universal owns Illuminations. Nintendo is already working with the media giant on theme park attractions for its Universal Studios destinations around the world, so the two already have a relationship. But the movie will still be a challenge to make. Most Mario games are short on plot, instead focusing on gameplay. And Mario himself speaks sparingly. An animated movie would probably want a more vocal Mario and substantial story. https://venturebeat.com/2017/11/14/mario-minions-despicable-me-studio-is-ideal-fit-to-reboot-the-plumbers-movie-career/ The last time Mario, Luigi, and Princess Daisy appeared on the bigscreen was the 1993 live-ation bomb Super Mario Bros. released by Walt Disney Studios-Hollywood Pictures. Nintendo has been hesitant ever since to return the Italian plumbers back to cinemas, but a team-up with Illumination, the most consistently successful animation studio at the box office in recent years, seems like a sound bet. http://www.cartoonbrew.com/feature-film/minions-maker-illumination-working-mario-bros-feature-154628.html
  6. So Lionsgate didn't even submit My Little Pony? Didn't expect that Also Leap is missing but that's because of the TWC mess
  7. Actuals are in and DM3 was flat from last weekend! Total Lifetime Grosses Domestic: $263,770,065 25.6% + Foreign: $767,763,850 74.4% = Worldwide: $1,031,533,915
  8. Hi Slambros, before 2017, voting was done by only the animation branch who were required to watch more or at least half of the nominees. Now everyone gets to vote from AMPAS, from all branches and they don't necessarily have to see any indie film. If am let's say from the costumes branch and I saw DM3, Cars 3, Underpants, Coco, Nut Job, Emoji and Pony, I can just vote for 5 of these and that's it.

  16. Thank you Baumer. It's so unfortunate how rude some users here are. I love this forum and it's a BOX OFFICE forum. And I always choose to take the highway and not respond to them let alone ridicule them as it happens to me every time I post a milestone for DM3. And I will keep posting whenever there are updates or milestone. If someone hates Illumination or loves other animation studios, great. Just stop thinking the world agrees with you. I really hope that they (and they know who they are - the same users everytime) change their attitude because behaviors such as these brings down this forum's great spirit and makes us delve into a lot of negativity. And in the end, it's just movies. So let's be friends instead of hate.
