1. I think it is a bit too much to ask from GvK, the past Easter weekend holdover all struggling achieve double digit growth on saturday, let alone an opener like Gvk.
2. Don't know what drug Deadline is on to project 42m 5 days opening for GvK......... Godzilla vs. Kong is now up to $27.9M in three days after an $11.6M Friday at 3,064 locations, which was up 73% over Thursday. The 5-day projection for the Adam Wingard-directed Warner Bros/Legendary title is $42M — far and away the best opening (3 and 5 day) we’ve seen at the domestic B.O. during the pandemic, meaning since mid-March of 2020. In second place for the weekend is Universal’s R-rated Bob Odenkirk action movie Nobody with $2.78M for the weekend, -59% for an expected 10-day of $11.5M at 2,567 theaters. It was expected that Nobody would get crushed in weekend 2 due to losing PLF turf to Godzilla vs. Kong. Nobody made $1.02M on Friday, -59% from a week ago. Sony/Screen Gems The Unholy horror movie looks to be taking 3rd for the weekend after an estimated $1.2M Friday, and a 3-day north of $2.5M at 1,850 theaters. Disney’s Raya and the Last Dragon, which is also available on Disney+ Premier tier for an extra $30, made $800K in its 5th Friday at 2,031 locations, in what looks to be weekend around $2M, -47%, in 4th place and a running total of $32.1M. Warner Bros.’ Tom & Jerry is 5th for the weekend looking at $500K on Friday, and around $1.2M, -52%, in its 6th weekend for a running total of $39.3M.

4. Lack of suspense/horror that we experience in KSI and Godzilla (2014), plot is way too cheap to anchor the epic fight between both, the last team up fight is a bit short and rush. The justification of "versus" element is poorly earned. Overall it is a dumb action flick that cinema desperate need for escapist. 5.5/10
5. I can only hope the underperforming of MTC2 is due to higher share of PWP....10-11m Friday just doesn't sound fun
6. Wednesday PTA is about 4000 with 2400+ theaters, I don't think it is too much to ask for 10% growth in PTA with 3064 theaters, with that Friday number will be at 13.5m.
7. WB apparently report their first daily gross for 01 Apr. YD Release Daily %± YD %± LW Theaters Avg To Date Days Distributor 1 - Tom and Jerry $357,142 - - 2,464 $144 $37,100,000 35 Warner Bros. 2 - Wonder Woman 1984 $35,000 - - 1,128 $31 $45,857,000 98 Warner Bros. 3 - The Little Things $20,000 - - 1,001 $19 $14,912,000 63 Warner Bros. 4 - Judas and the Black Messiah $15,000 - - 842 $17 $5,195,000 49 Warner Bros. Also, why didn't BOM reflect Tom and jerry last weekend actual number? it was 200k+ higher than estimate

TOM & JERRY
$2.7M Weekend (Actual)
2,464 Screens / $1,097 Avg.
Weekend 5 / -29% Change
$37.26M Total (North America)#TomAndJerry #BoxOffice
— Boxoffice Pro (@BoxOffice) March 30, 2021

8. Total 16.3m in 2 days, about 30% drop from 9.6m OD

GODZILLA VS. 9. Checking through regal showtimes over the weekend in New York and i realise the first show only start on 12.00pm. Is that a regulatory requirement for the cinema to open this late?
10. I can't help but to feel a little bit dissatisfied with9.6m. Either way, it is a good start for theater. Big screen matters. Size matters
11. I know i am being irrationally "IN" your club of GvK 60m opening but 15m in a single day is really testing the upper limit of the capacity when even Top 10 aggregate weekend are struggling with 15m total.
12. I hope HBO max only attracted those indoor-nerd who don't go to cinema for GvK either way even under normal circumstances. While RPO's 41m Easter weekend is too high to for Gvk achieve, I do hope GvK 5 days can match RPO's 4 days weekend. GvK is basically a faith-based drama of 2021 Easter weekend. Faith in big screen.
13. WB would be foolish not to capitalize on 10m OD pandemic record for their marketing campaign. 10m OD in pandemic era is amazing and actually not that far off from RPO's Thursday Easter eve OD 12m
14. Still 80% on RT after 166 reviews. I bet they will soon certify fresh to coincide with its opening day to further intensify the buzz
15. When people claim that Hollywood is dying in china, I feel that description is more fitting to japanese market
16. Ds is playing like mini Aladdin, at this rate of dropping even if we assume one or two week of major drop, will have it final total at 15m, not far behind from soul.
17. Win win situation here since it allow GVK to have bigger space here and it is not like MK have BW waiting in may.
18. Unfortunately WB is too delusional, and wanted to save their HBO max as the worst streaming services in the town. And I don't get the bashing towards Disney of their hybrid model,; WB offer a better deal to cinema with lower Box office split but keep in mind, WB put those theater in compete with something free! Of course WB should offer cinema some more generous deal as opposed to Disney when generally people still have to pay 30 for PVOD.
