With now WW84 officially moved to December. Tenet has two full month until BW which maybe delayed too, For a movie that target long run business., tenet marketing has not been adapted to its long run strategy. The marketing like tv spots has been largely focus on opening week just all the usual tentpole.

I remember last year when first Mulan teaser hit, some said 300m can be easily hit. Now I see it was 300m rmb.

WB internally recognize how bad was that 20.2m in 10 days, but i am not sure if marketing keep up the pace of release or WB will just let it die down

It is ridiculous to see diversity have to be guided in such manner. Just recognize a person's talent before their skin colour, gender seem like a impossible enough tasks for making a Mission Impossible 8. This can't even double New Mutant first weekend, a critically panned movie with less theater number. Another issue is Nolan's film tend to IMAX-skewed. And most of the IMAX screen are in NY and CA. I strongly hope WW84 moves, this will do good for both WW84 and tenet's leg, The current market simply can't accommodate two tentpole. Domestic market is very important for Tenet, this is where it can get 63% box office cut.

In short, you can''t convince people to go and watch tenet when your country reported 40k+ cases per day with thousand of people dead. Even the Pattinson got the virus! the star of the movie!

Many probably doesn't like Tenet, but it is hardly forgettable. You will see tons of movie getting A or even A+ cinemascore but legs out poorly simply because they are forgettable. You come out from theater and probably never talked to anyone else since. It is hard to not to talk about Tenet as if it is just another action flick. If you don't like it, you would still be telling people how confusing it was when everything was inverted. You probably will ask around. Just like Joker, many doesn't like it but they talk about Joker because it is unforgettable.

Joker got B+ and 69% RT with its certified fresh logo taken away. We all know how that movie held up later on.

This movie may not universally well-liked but bottom line, it is unforgettable, for better or worse.
