  1. the last Monday's x-mas was 2006, too far for comparison, while last year could serve as the best comparison, it still can't tell how this could benefit or affect TLJ..... 60% 2nd weekend drop could be likely case, as friday was inflated by $45m and sunday is x-mas eve.....

  4. the metacritic user rating drops even lower to 5.0..... But none of this prove that it is going to be materially important to box office....as we never seen this before happened to an event film
  5. seeing this messed up, 2nd movie to score anything higher or on par with TDK(the 2nd movie of the batman trilogy) is a bad humiliation to the cinematic world
  6. 30% drop from meh-OD of TFA, again, SK not really like this space saga, and TLJ may opened to #1 in every countries in the world except SK like TFA did

  9. January used to a great month for oscar-nominated picture to gain their 2nd life, like life of pi, argo, gravity, slumdog and etc, but now, even maze runner, a mid-blockbuster too has join the field, with the academy push back the nomination announcement to end of January, the crop of nominees couldn't longer to capitalize MLK weekend like those in 2012/2013/2014/2015
  10. 3B at box office started to slow down despite expansion, that lengthy name should be take the blame, lady bird didn't go any higher too, both, front runner for oscar best picture, likely won't pass $50m in total

Dear My Sister (Showgate) WK5>Kamen Rider Heisei Generations FINAL: Build & Ex-Aid with Legend Riders, the 57th theatrical release in the long-running Kamen Rider film franchise, debuts atop the box office, selling an impressive 303,089 admissions across 331 screens. This opening is the eighth biggest among the Heisei era (1992-) films, and the biggest in the franchise in five years. The Kamen Rider franchise is naturally frontloaded, and none of the films in the past several years have been capable of reaching the ¥1 billion milestone; however, this film looks to break that trend and should be the first film in quite some time to finally achieve the milestone. Expect a total around ¥1.2 billion (~$11 million). >Destiny: The Tale of Kakamura, the latest film from director Takashi Yamazaki, settles for second place, selling a decent 231,465 admissions across 401 screens. This debut is just 4% higher than Yamazaki's previous film, The Man They Called Pirate, so a total between ¥2.0-2.5 billion (~$18-22 million) is likely given the positive reception and similar release date. Distributor Toho was certainly hoping for more, I'm sure, since this was their major live-action tentpole for December, but unfortunately for them they'll have to be content and wish for a more lucrative 2018. >Murder on the Orient Express debuts in third place, selling 169,100 admissions over the weekend frame on 455 screens, and 231,465 admissions since opening on Friday. The third place start may look unimpressive, but the opening itself is solid and almost earned Fox their biggest opening weekend of 2017 (only behind Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children). Unless a film is largely fanbase driven (e.g. Kamen Rider), films released in mid-December often develop great legs, with one or two sometimes approaching multipliers as high as 10 (or higher) -- I'm expecting the Orient Express to potentially be one of those films. Expect a total between ¥1.5-2 billion (~$13-18 million). >Girls und Panzer: The Finale - Part 1 comes in fourth place, selling 118,798 admissions across just 59 screens. This debut is 14% higher than the 2015 Girls und Panzer film, but unlike that film, I'm doubting Part 1 will have anywhere near the longevity it mustered. Expect a total near ¥1 billion (~$10 million), perhaps? >Fullmetal Alchemist experiences a steep second weekend decline, certainly not the result Warner Bros. was wanting to see after an underwhelming debut last weekend. The film will be a target for severe screen/showtime cuts next weekend, so will be unlikely to take much advantage of the upcoming holidays. Expect a disappointing total around ¥1.5 billion (~$13 million). >IT is still performing well and is approaching the ¥2 billion (~$18 million) milestone in its sixth weekend of release. It'll exceed the mark over the next weekend, becoming one of just a handful of horror films to ever achieve the milestone. Expect a finish around ¥2.3 billion ($20/21 million).
  13. I was so surprised they snub arrival last year except for amy adams for leading actress, but the oscar "fixed" the snub by giving it full force at many categories, ironically, except for amy adam
  14. harvey has full momentum now in the race, given that the field isn't competitive, they will go for special achievement award
  15. out of 10 Golden Globe BP's nom in 2015, 6 entered the oscar(4 drama, 2 comedies) + 2 more, brooklyn and bridge of spies out of 10 Golden Globe BP's nom in 2015, 6 too, entered oscar( 5 drama, a comedy)+ 3 more, hidden, fences and arrival if 2017 follows suit, 6 BP would enter oscar race to me, all 5 drams and lady bird, sorry GO, your snub in screenplay in Golden Globe looks alarming.....still hope a genre film could break into oscar!!
  16. Chistopher just kicked Patrick out from top 5 for me, I guess kevin buzz just strike in right time for attention, i can say patrick's oscar buzz is dead now....except for martin for 3B, all others director nominees are pretty big name in industry....hope steven won't get in in the end at oscar, he has enough gold/nom for his career....
  17. all the money in this world show some force and momentum this morning....bye bye florida....
  18. well, If i told you tell wonder, opened to $27.5m, is going to be a monster-hit of $600m, would it sound realistic or magical? titanic did that with $28m opening... and no much movies can get 20th anniversary re-release, it must be an all time classic to have a fame, especially when titanic just got re-released 5 years back..... Stop showing your moronic word, ill-behaved everywhere, you this stuck-up, half-witted, scruffy-looking nerf herder
  19. This is sad to see that Wonder didn't hold better, through it is a success story, but seeing DH2 and murder on the.... hold even better, the hold of wonder just not too remarkable....that DH2's hold make it looks more like an A+ cinemascore movie.
