I'm honestly shocked, nobody mentioned the mother of all teasers, one of the most influential trailers of the last 20 years, maybe ever:
That SB-Spot for "Independence Day" is the definition of a great teaser, it can't get any better than that.
In a time, where the only romance in movies seems to come from Nicholas Sparks, it's nice to hear, that they go for a big one after such a long time.
But I understand that Sony is anxious, after they spent 120m on a horrible movie like "How do you know".
Shrek 2, the mother of all Kids-Summer-Blockbusters only dropped 67% in may, so you can be sure that JW will drop much better that this.
Also, TS 3 dropped 51% with sunday being father's day.
What would be really funny is, if Paramount was actually as incompetent in counting numbers, as they made themselves look with those revised numbers for TF2 and it actually wasn't a fudge at all.
Every time Lordmandeep dislikes a movie, he comes up with it underperforming in Canada, but never was able to deliver a number to proof it.
That's quite an achievement and still he's the center of the discussion again and again.
People waiting for JW to show signs of weakness should just accept, that it's too late for that. This movie surfs on a hype and will have legs after all the unlikely things that have happend this weekend around its performance.
This is one of those special performances and you know it won't stop.
The last time game #5 fell on a sunday was father's day 2013, where Man of steel dropped a stunning 0,1% on sunday, severely impacted by basketball.
Just saying.
I'll ask it again. Why would not even 30m people out of 350m americans and canadians have such an impact? There are no other tv shows on, as it's summer break.
10 years ago you had single shows doing those numbers and nobody said back then, that it had an impact.
