  1. The video game industry is in a much better position than in the 1980s mostly due to the fact the big players are Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft as well as the likes of Activision Blizzard and EA.
  2. I dunno, this year we've seen a lot of movies suffer because there has been little breathing space and probably a delay here and there isn't going to have a huge impact. WB for example shot the majority of their 2024 films in 2022 and the first half of 2023, the only thing they have that was shutdown is Beetlejuice 2 which could make its release date since it's not until next September, Juror Number 2 which being a Clint Eastwood film probably was close to wrapping and Twisters which is only half their film.
  3. TBF it made sense at the time as Netflix was dominating the market, the biggest mistake was pricing it so low. I think WBD pricing what is now Max at $14.99 is a genius move in hindsight. The internet always get mad at CEOs, this idea that if we get rid of rich people, the world will be a better place is both unrealistic and frankly stupid. There's been rich people since the days of the Romans.
  4. It does but it's not going to cause the industry to collapse and die.
  5. I would point out the reason the video game industry collapsed in the 1980s was due to poor quality games being rushed out to market, it's not a like for like comparison to what's happening to Hollywood right now.
  6. The idea that Hollywood or the film and television industry will collapse is nonsense anyway.
  7. I fully expect the AMPTP to concede sooner rather later because dragging into next year just invites political and investor intervention.
  8. I don't get why it's so difficult to not leak proposals to the trades. Just have a blackout period.
  9. TBH 2024 was always unlikely, it's too much financial pain for everyone.
  10. Barbenheimer basically made cinemas their nut for the years, everything else was a bonus.
  11. I wonder if the move both a week earlier and a Sunday is due to The Equalizer 3? I think Sony would want that to sell at full pricing whereas they don't care as much for GT.
  12. Also it'll be the first solo Superman movie with a new actor in over a decade. Some people on here love to revel in the doom and gloom and it's really grating.
  13. This place is already exhausting with some of the hyperbole from the concern trolls.
  14. It's funny that WB and Universal have the top movies of the summer but yet it's balanced by other movies not doing so well. Strays is the second flop for Uni in two weeks although they can easily suck it up. Sony is in a similar boat, Spider-Verse did well but they haven't exactly done well with their other movies.
  15. Can this these pinned and aimed at other who spout this shtick not just about DC but other franchises as well.
  16. I see certain posters are spouting hyperbolic nonsense as usual.
  17. Strays was downright rejected by audiences.
  18. The anniversary is 16th October so a trailer that day makes sense,
  19. The first two Equalizers did around £2m OW so with its five day opening, it's bound to topple Barbie.
