  1. My little brother was the reason we watched Coco. And he refused to wait for the next day and has been listening to the soundtrack so I’m not so sure kids aren’t interested. Your kids and other kids you know may not be, but others can bring up examples of kids taken by the music and the colorful images. The short has always been a limited attachement for Coco, likely just something to increase initial interest. The commercials on Disney Channel mention that it’s for a limited time so I don’t see how people watching specifically for the short will feel burned by something that Disney has already made them aware of.
  2. Since the short is getting such a negative reaction, Disney will likely pull it soon. Regardless, the commercial on Disney Channel mentions it’s only for a limited time, perhaps a week or 2.
  3. Loved this. Fantastic performances and realistic portrayal of life in a small town. I really thought the lack of consequences, as crazy as it seems, was true to life. Got emotional several times. Most surprising thing was coming around to like/feel sorry for Dixon...didn’t expect that but Sam Rockwell was great in this role. My super-critical friend liked it as well, though she didn’t like the open ending. A
  4. Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri November 24, 2017 6:10PM, 40% Full Trailers: Arrived late so missed several Isle of Dogs The Shape of Water - murmurs Laughs at appropriate moments. Gasps and murmurs at other times.

  6. Titanic, TLK, The Notebook, Up, The Impossible, BR49, Coco and many others.
  7. It’s down to 7.5 now. That’s a pretty steep drop from 9.4 several hours ago. Glad Coco is having a warm reception in China. I really hope it breaks out.
  8. I mean...it didn’t seem like people loved the short, but it was fine imo. My brother and the other kids in the theater liked it and laughed along. And he paid attention to the movie fine, even scooting closer to the screen at certain points. The music is upbeat enough to have kids dancing along. I don’t know what it’d be like for 2-3 year olds, but the length wasn’t an issue for a 5 year old and it didn’t feel long to me either. Our showing started at 7:15p and we were about 5 min early and we were in our cars by 9:35p.
  9. Copied from Coco discussion thread: So basically, I loved Coco. I saw the twist coming as soon as Hector showed up, but didn’t anticipate how it’d work out so I was still surprised with the reveal. And I also thought Hector was a goner when Miguel returned. Surprisingly dark for a children’s movie with the murder and the whole death after death thing, but it didn’t really faze my brother much outside of disliking Ernesto. Loved Miguel, who was so relatable with the struggle between doing what you feel called to and what your family feels is best. Un Poco Loco and Remember Me were the most memorable songs and had my brother nodding along. My sister, who also cried, described it as a movie with a good 1st act, fun/interesting 2nd act, and really sad, emotional 3rd with 5 min of happiness. The world Pixar created is so colorful and visually rich with details that I feel like I need to watch it multiple times to catch them. It definitely leaves an impression on you. A
  10. Saw Coco with my siblings today and it was so beautiful. I think I cried for the last 30 min and I heard other sniffles in the crowd. My siblings loved it as well. The music isn’t really remarkable and it started off kinda slow, but it definitely packs a punch in the last 30 min or so. I’ll have watch it again and I really hope it catches on and does really well. It’s a family movie with a great message. The Frozen short was also pretty good. Didn’t feel long to me. While buying our tickets, the theater employee had to mention the short because people apparently weren’t aware and complained about it the night before.
  11. Coco continues to increase: 1. JL 29.3% 2. Wonder 16.8% 3. Coco 14.8% 4. Thor 9.6% 5. MOTOE 6%
  12. No, the yearly is better for consumers. I’m just weary about the frequent changes they’re making (new subscriptions, revised TOS, charges for overuse, etc.) all in the past 2 months.
  13. MT 1. JL 30.7% 2. Wonder 17.6% 3. Coco 11.6% 4. Thor 9.7% 5. MOTOE 6%
  14. You can watch a movie everyday (non-3D/IMAX/Special Events) for a set price per month. They originally lowered their price to $9.95 in August from something like $50 per month. I signed up then, but now they’re rolling out the yearly subscription for ~$85. I get the idea that they’ll get thousands of consumers who’ll pay for a year, but won’t use the service much. I just can’t imagine they’ll last long with that strategy.
  15. Next 2 years are just packed with major movies. I really hope MoviePass survives...though their new subscription plan isn’t reassuring.
  16. I’m pretty sure most of the posters liked/loved WW and were elated at its success. It’s WW that had many of us expecting great numbers from JL. Since that didn’t happen, some are just telling it like they see it.

  18. I don’t think people are tired of Superman and Batman. People should be tired of James Bond movies too with that logic. Superman remains one of my favorite superheroes despite not loving how he’s protrayed in recent movies. The movies just weren’t good enough for people to care this time. I do think they should continue to introduce other characters, but it’d be nice to get a great Superman movie too.
