I don’t think the re-release needs to extend to China, although if it happens, it would be a telltale sign that TWoW really will get released over there, despite the Chinese government’s current beef with Disney. Could you imagine If we eventually got to a point where China completely phased out all Hollywood releases, except or Avatar films?

Yeah, that was mentioned earlier in the thread. It’s great that the show apparently isn’t being canceled, but it still comes across as baffling that Zaslav doesn’t want a Batman cartoon on a streaming service that he owns. He seems to be going out of his way to strip HBO Max of any content that doesn’t fit with the traditional HBO brand.

Come to think of it, when was the last time a re-release got any sort of traction? I think it was the 20th anniversary re-release of Jurassic Park.

I can’t believe we still have a studio doing a day and date release late into 2022. Does this have something to do with Beast underperforming, or is the movie just that bad? Or both?

At this point, it’d be funny if the Batman cartoon were to end up on Disney+. Seriously though, if the show isn’t being canceled, why not just put it on HBO Max? Does Zaslav want HBO Max to fail?

If I recall, insiders have claimed that he’s trying to copy the Disney model, and that he paradoxically wants to increase WB’s cinematic output, despite also going out of his way to cut costs and rejecting projects from people like Clint Eastwood. It sounds like he has no clue what he’s doing. I don’t know how anyone can defend Zaslav’s decisions. I get that WB is in debt, but again, their debt only got worse after the Discovery buyout. If this is such a problem for Zaslav and Discovery, then they should never have agreed to buy out WB in the first place. No one forced them to do that.

It almost feels surreal seeing a Dragon Ball movie at the number one spot for the North American box office, especially when it didn’t do particularly great in Japan. Good for Crunchyroll, I guess. In other news, TGM just might end the year as the biggest movie of 2022, at least domestically. Who could’ve seen that coming?

They already have D23 this year, so they probably don’t think there’d be any point.

Who said anything about female heroes? There have been whispers going around in the industry about how stupid Zaslav’s approach is, and how it’s only going to sever WB’s relationship with its talent. Pissing people off is not a sound business move.

Plenty of experts have also said that Zaslav’s strategy is pretty stupid. Not sure what your point is.
