They’re predictably pretty good. Some people seemed to just be freaking out because there were two or three reactions that weren’t keen on it. Also, the general consensus seems to be that the villain isn’t that great. -

The Rotten Tomatoes score will probably be “certified fresh” if anyone is concerned about that. -
These early reactions are making it sound like this is a relatively weird movie that doesn’t just retread the original, which is certainly interesting.

The first film had a pretty big cultural impact back in the day, but it seemed to fade away from the pop culture zeitgeist after 2011. The countless delays for the sequels and the return of Star Wars might have played a hand in that.

In other words, the same year it’s being released? I wonder if that’s something they decided on after the movie got delayed or if they already intended for that to be the case and it just happened to work out nicely. I’m guessing it’s the former.

He’ll already be 80 by the time this movie is released.

If that’s the case, then this would either have to be the last one, or they would need to focus exclusively on a young Indiana Jones moving forward, because there’s no way Harrison Ford can keep playing an action hero at this point. I’ve seen speculation that Boyd Holbrook is playing a young Indiana, but that would be weird, because he’s older than Harrison Ford was when he first played the character.
