    I always assumed most of the people who were genuinely mad about the slap were the rich Hollywood types. Most other people just saw it as a funny meme.

    Regarding the human characters, the human characters in GvK were nothing to write home about either. It didn’t really matter, since Kong was essentially the main character of that film.

    I never said I was against it, but do people remember any part of Bear McCreary’s score that wasn’t based on Akira Ifukube?

    People always single out Bear McCreary’s score from KotM as being great, but let’s be honest, Akira Ifukube’s compositions did a lot of the heavy lifting.

    I thought Junkie XL’s music for the Snyder Cut was pretty good.

    Nelson Peltz is a large part of the reason for the whitewashing debacle in Last Airbender, since he got his daughter cast as Katara.

    That’s not exactly a hot take. At the very least, that was definitely the case prior to the MCU.

    As much as I find Shawn Levy to be a bland director, he’s probably an ideal person to direct these big Marvel “event” films. By all accounts, he’s pretty reliable and knows how to play ball. He also already has experience working with Ryan Reynolds, as well as handling big ensembles. As a matter of fact, assuming DP3 is well received, I would expect them to get Levy for at least one of the upcoming Avengers films.

    The first movie used a fair amount of licensed music as well, including a Frank Sinatra song. I don’t see why this would lead to the budget being so much higher than the first one. I would think the better explanation is that Phillips and Phoenix got a massive pay raise, and that Lady Gaga wasn’t cheap either. Maybe they also filmed some really elaborate musical sequences. I assume that can get fairly expensive.

    Why even include Shane Black in that list? IM3 was made during the Ike Perlmutter era. You might as well include Joss Whedon.

    Greta Gerwig is seemingly going to be preoccupied with those Netflix Narnia movies, and Denis Villeneuve apparently wants to take a break from Dune.

    I would normally be inclined to agree, but Jenna Ortega is pretty popular with Gen Z, so that might help. But yeah, I’m sick of nostalgia baiting too. I would’ve hoped that the failure of Flash and Indiana Jones last year was going to be a wake up call to Hollywood, but it looks like we’re not quite done just yet.

    Panic attacks seem to be the new trend for animated movies in the 2020s.

    To be clear, I have no interest in this movie. In fact, I think it looks like something that would bore me to death in the theater. I was more commenting in general on how much stock the Internet puts on Rotten Tomatoes, to the point where they let it influence their own opinions.
