  1. As of now, the last Best Picture winner to cross the $100 million threshold was Argo. For context, the biggest Best Picture since then was Green Book.
  2. RotK shouldn’t be used as if it’s a recent example. That was 20 years ago, and pretty much everyone saw it as an outlier that was basically an award for the entire trilogy, due to what a big achievement it was.
  3. The rumors about Zaslav wanting to sell the company have been going on at least as far back the Batgirl fiasco.
  4. I don’t buy that Joker 2 or Furiosa are getting nominated for Best Picture. Certainly not over this.
  5. I don’t see the point in hyper-fixating on David Ehrlich’s review. I doubt he’s going to drag down this movie’s chances.
  6. I can imagine that Zassy might’ve been so desperate for a Joker sequel that he was willing to throw a lot of money at Phillips and Phoenix to convince them to make it.
  7. I assumed they were just going to get Ron Howard, but that’s an interesting choice.
  8. So this is gonna be like that Clone Wars movie from 2008?
  9. Didn’t Ryan Reynolds mention that Jackman was the one who approached them about being in DP3? He’s made it no secret long before the Fox buyout that he wanted to be in the MCU. Besides, he was in Movie 43. In terms of selling out, you can’t go any lower than that.
  10. Whatever Nolan’s next film is, it might not be a bad idea for it to address criticisms people have had regarding his handling of female characters.
  11. I believe the point of the tweet was that a lot goes on with major studio films that can’t entirely be blamed on the writers. In terms of why these guys “keep getting work,” I assume it’s because they’re good at following orders from the executives.
  12. Jesus Christ, dude. Did I run over your dog or something? Seriously, get off my back. You are obsessed with me.
  13. I read the quote. I’d have to assume that “post writer’s strike ending in late September” is referring to the fact that the strike ended in late September. Also, as I already pointed out, it’s not difficult to imagine that “sources close to the movie” wouldn’t want people to know that the script was changed to avoid parallels to Gaza. Perhaps Gunn did conveniently remove the Middle East storyline before October 7th, but that sure would be a massive stroke of luck.
  14. That doesn’t actually seem to specify that the final script was submitted in September. They pointed out that the writer’s strike ended in late September. Besides, it’s not difficult to imagine that WB wouldn’t want people to know that they had to change the script in response to an ongoing foreign catastrophe. In any case, nothing about Youseff’s statement “communicates” that these changes happened before October 7th. He obviously wouldn’t be privy to that, given that he didn’t write the script.
  15. It really doesn’t. There was a full month between October 7th and the end of the SAG strike. That would’ve been plenty of time to make the necessary alterations to the script.
