  1. He specifically said he auditioned for the role in June, shortly before the SAG strike. The WGA strike began at the start of May, so if his role had already been removed before that point, why the hell would he be auditioning in June? Last time I checked, June comes after May, though feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.
  2. Nah, not really. That always sounded like a bad idea, even before October 7th. It also seemed oddly derivative of Black Adam. With that said, it’s pretty funny to think that Grace Randolph was actually right, but people kept calling her a liar for months, even though a bunch of other scoopers corroborated the Middle East storyline.
  3. All I know is it’s gonna be ridiculous if the Blade movie gets delayed again at this point. Anyway, out of all the Marvel movies currently on the schedule, Fantastic Four is the one I’m most curious about.
  4. Trailers views typically pick up steam in the final weeks leading up to the film’s release, especially if there’s a lot of hype behind it.
  5. My understanding is that S&L did reasonably well by modern CW standards, which is why it didn’t get canceled at the same time all the other CW shows were canceled.
  6. I don’t even understand why they’d need to claim that his character was removed before the strikes. If they simply said that they rewrote the script to avoid real world comparisons, I’m pretty sure most people would understand. The writer’s strike ended on September 27th, so they would’ve been free to do so.
  7. Sounds like the script most likely was changed because of October 7th. Still, it looks like there isn’t any bad blood between him and Gunn.
  8. When has Gunn shown support for Palestine? Also, as I said, Youseff has been far more vocal about it than most other actors, and he’s also Arab, while the other actors aren’t. All I’m saying is that claiming it couldn’t have been political because some other actors signed a ceasefire letter isn’t really a good argument.
  9. At the very least, it’s now been confirmed that Youseff was supposed to play Rumaan Harjavti, ruler of Bialya. In other words, the movie was indeed supposed to involve a Middle East conflict at some point.
  10. In fairness, I wouldn’t really consider signing a letter to be the same as going on TV and arguing with Piers Morgan about the issue. Youseff’s been far more outspoken about the issue than most other people in Hollywood. Anyway, now it’s being said that Youseff’s character was apparently removed before the strikes even happened, and thus, before October 7th. Interesting.
  11. Gunn may not have removed him for being pro-Palestine. He said he was told it was because of script rewrites, which may very well be true. All I know is that a bunch of scoopers (not just Grace Randolph) were claiming that the movie would involve a conflict in the Middle East, and there were apparently casting calls for a character who was described as a Middle Eastern dictator. I don’t think it’s a reach to assume that the movie really was going to involve the Middle East, but Gunn removed it some point after October 7th.
  12. It’s increasingly sounding like that rumor about the Middle Eastern subplot was true, but that it was rewritten due to current events.
  13. If Twitter is going to do revisionism over any of the Fantastic Four films, better it be the Tim Story ones than the one from 2015.
  14. Toho since 2016 has mostly seemed pretty intent on sticking to the idea of Godzilla as a serious political allegory.
  15. The assumption seems to be that it’ll be able to tap into the same kind of crowd that made Top Gun: Maverick a huge hit.
  16. I always assumed the fear mongering for the first movie actually helped it. It got a bunch of people curious to see what the big fuss was, like when everyone back in the day kept talking about how horrifying The Exorcist was.
  17. GotG 3 did have the fourth biggest OW of last year, and ATSV only narrowly beat it out.
  18. The funniest part about this whole thing is that we still have two more of these Sonyverse movies coming out this year. You have to wonder if Sony is panicking right now. One of those movies is Venom 3, but will people still care? I would think Venom 2 was successful largely because it was released in close proximity to NWH. Plus, it had Carnage played by Woody Harrelson. What is the third one supposed to bring to the table?
