I would think that pretty much everyone associates the Guardians of the Galaxy with the superhero genre, especially after they teamed up with the Avengers.
Whoever does the score for this (John Murphy?), hopefully they don’t just reuse the John Williams theme like some people seem to want. Give the new Superman his own theme.
People are just tired of the superhero genre. The MCU is no longer the novel concept it was in the 2010s. People likely feel that they’ve seen everything at this point, and the sheer volume of content on Disney+ hasn’t helped.
I mean, isn’t being an uncanny valley nightmare kind of the point of Alia, at least in the original book? I feel like they could maybe get away with making her a creepy CGI creation.
I don’t think this will end up like Pirates 5, but I’m not expecting it to get raves all across the board. I think it’ll be fine from a critical standpoint, but it won’t be hailed as the TGM of the year.
The more responses I read, it kind of sounds like all those insides and leakers who were constantly going on about how unbelievably great the movie is might have been exaggerating just a little.
The fact that they’re doing another Batman reboot for the DCU is easily the biggest thing that makes me weary about it. If they really feel they need Batman in the DCU, they should’ve just gone with Walter Hamada’s idea of doing Batman Beyond.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a CBM that has had such a vehement insistence that it’s great quite like this one. Not gonna lie, it’s gotten a little annoying.
I’m talking about the WB executives who danced to the song.
Also, for the record, Mattel did their own version of the song for a commercial back in 2009, without permission from the band, of course.
