If it would’ve opened the same with a straight couple, then is it even worth bringing up?

I don’t know if the MCU can take another mixed bag, especially when it’s the opener to Phase Five.

Announcing up front that they’re canceling the black Superman movie, while moving ahead with James Gunn’s movie (which presumably won’t star a black Superman) could potentially lead to a different kind of backlash that I’m not sure WBD or Gunn will want to deal with. Besides, this project was announced two years ago at this point by the previous regime, whom Gunn has already said some less than flattering things about.

That synopsis kind of makes it sound like Owen Teague and Freya Allan are playing entirely new characters, rather than Cornelius and Nova like we thought.

I get the impression that the Coates project won’t get made, but they’re just hesitant to announce outright that they canceled it, because they feel it would be bad optics to do so.

If this turns out well, I think there’s a better than non-existent chance that they’ll get Nia DaCosta for Secret Wars.

That’s what insiders have been claiming for months, and I guess they must’ve been on to something. A lot is resting on the Flash movie at this point.

Gunn’s writing this, so he might as well direct it.

Just got back from seeing it. Dave Bautista continues to prove that he’s the best wrestler-turned actor. The movie as a whole is surprisingly restrained for a Shyamalan film. It’s a solid movie overall.

To be perfectly frank, while I can’t deny that Snyder has some toxic fans, I feel like some of the anti-Snyder people go too far in the opposite direction, to the point where they make it their entire personality to hate on anything to do with Zack Snyder. I’ve also seen some comments about Gal Gadot that honestly come across as rather thinly-veiled anti-Semitism.

It seems kind of weird and pointless to fixate on some loud and completely irrelevant minority. I’ve been hearing people like MovieBob complain about Snyder fans nonstop for over five years. Who cares at this point? They’re not gonna get James Gunn fired, if that’s what you guys are worried about.

I don’t understand why they feel they need to have some 10 year plan figured out before they even release their first movie. That’s not even what Marvel did. Marvel didn’t have IW and EG planned out when they were making the first Iron Man film. Hell, they didn’t even know that they would be building up to Thanos until after The Avengers already began production. That’s why they had a placeholder actor for Thanos in the mid-credits scene. It was a relatively late decision, so they didn’t have time to cast a big name. Gunn and Safran’s plans seem way too ambitious for their own good, especially the part about how they want the same actors to play these characters across film, animation and video games.

Wasn’t the Coates movie Walter Hamada’s idea? Why would they feel like they still need to commit to that?

I’ll just echo what I said a while back: I would’ve much preferred if they had just not bothered trying to relaunch their cinematic universe, and just make the new Superman its own standalone franchise, like Matt Reeves’ Batman. I just can’t grasp the logic behind having a Batman movie set in the DCU while the Matt Reeves universe is still going on.

I can safely say that I have more questions than answers.
