  1. Japan is 3rd country to have a $300mn film after USA and China. It was 2nd to do $100mn, $150mn, $200mn & $250mn.
  2. https://www.the-numbers.com/box-office-chart/weekend/2020/12/04/Australia/AUD
  3. It will be hard to see if 1st Jan miss that but yeah may be, if shows on 1st are par 31st Dec only, then possible. In same calendar setting, Detective Chinatown in 2015 did previews: 48 31st: 92 (49k shows) 1st: 114 (50k show) Sat: 99 (48k shows) Sun: 73 (47k shows) Total: 378 (427 inc previews) It legged to 823mn, which if ALRF follows will be 2.9B or $443mn at current ER. If ER improves by say 0.1 points, that will be $451mn, and may be it gives 800 & Demon Slayer a fight for top WW grosser of 2020.
  4. Don't know what really to expect from A Little Red Flower due to uncertainty of shows. @Gavin Feng didn't clarify that, are shows om 31st from 6 PM to Midnight only, or 6PM to 6AM on 1st January or Midnight to 6AM. Assuming its 1st case, there are 160k shows during 6PM to Midnight, may be A Little Red Flower get 100k of them, or may be 110k. That will give capacity of 530-585mn, may be ALRF do 50-60% of the capacity for 265-350mn day. Pre-sales for 1st Jan are quite great. T-9 days, they were 9.25mn Approx. Usually CBMs are 3mn range by then for their OD. 1st Jan should easily clear 400mn IMO unless WOM is shit. May be even 450-500. Thinking 275 450 390 300 Total: 1415mn or $215mn Unless its a film that crash after holidays 😛
  5. Sony has a streamer in India. They do have foreign shows, so where are those shows releasing in USA.
  6. I for one think Superhero films got serious (not tone per se, just making them became much more serious) and better post 2008. Before that they were clownery. Spider-Man 1 & 2 exceptions. I haven't seen the og Batman.
  7. 14k CGV pre-sales. May be 58-63k OD. May be 425k weekend.
  8. I don't think it is fanboyish debate (or may be it is a touch of it) or Marvel specific. Topic is Superhero films & character development.
  9. A film connect with over 300mn people worldwide is not possible without character development. You lot should stop with your anti-superhero films agendas. Don't like them, don't watch them, why even bother discussing them?
  10. I gotta re-visit Jaws. I didn't liked it at all in first and only watch. I absolutely hated Temple of Doom so not gonna try Raiders, but Jaws I can may be.
  11. Did WW had action? There was one No Man Land scene which was pretty good but other than that, first ome was a massacre of Amazons and then the 3rd act which was ugh. The strongest point of WW for me was Gal Gadot and how WW as character catch up with real world. That's it. Action sure can be a plus but I think emotion is what make a film work. If the film connect with that audience, action is just cherry on top. Think of Cap lifting mjolnir. For action pov, its just a man getting a hammer. But its the emotion/connection that has been set with Mjolnir & characters that make that scene work.
  12. So about $1.35mn OD PS. Saturday about $500k Approx. Rest would be around $500k too I guess, so that matches pretty well with that $4.3mn figure, with 50% being private screenings. The final numbers can be, may be close to double. So about $2.5mn final PS + say around same private screenings. We could have a good OD in our hands of around $6-7mn perhaps.

  14. WB ain't reporting box office properly and they reported PS. That would be weird. Not seeing any official report either. What is this guy talking about.
  15. this is very similar to what box office is expected to be. @WandaLegion Indonesia.
